Great skin!

The only suggestion I would make is adding the ability to "surf while watching" that the mlbDude skin has (ie when you press channel up or down it only changes the channel info OSD bar and doesn't actually change the channel till you press enter).

version 1.8 -- 18 Oct 2004

Still for version 2.0

Requires downloading and unpacking of STV, Java and Icons zipfiles.
Also requires that you download and unpack the java helper libraries zipfile into the jre*/lib/ext directory

Bugfixes:
 • Ability to disable the smooth scrolling screen saver (detailed setup->enhancements)
New Features:
 • Experimental semi-transparent OSD when using the Overlay renderer (detailed setup->enhancements)
 • ability to remove some of the commands on Recording Detailed Info screen (see properties file nielm/detailview/*)
 • ability to run a custom command on a recording (see properties file nielm/detailview/custom_command*)
 • improved background updating of newsfeeds (they all update simultaneously now)
 • WRS now has network timeouts (thanks salsbst)

About the semi-transparent OSD:
This is an attempt at getting the same sort of semi-transparent OSD that VMR9 users have, but using the Overlay renderer (which often works better anyway...) It uses a pattern fill background instead of a solid background, so you see half the video pixels showing through (theoretically). A disadvantage is that the OSD information panel needs to have a fixed height (see attached image)

To use it, you need the Overlay Video renderer set in Detailed Setup->Video and in Detailed Setup->DVD, as well as enabling the setting in Detailed Setup->Enhancements

To disable it, you need to disable the setting in detailed setup->enhancements, and disable Overlay Color Keying in detailed setup->Advanced.

Oh, and Detailed Setup->Enhancements now has more options that fit -- scroll down to see them!

Niel ... FYI ... I upgraded to 1.8 ...

Overlay on Video & DVD = Enabled
Overlay Color Keying = Enabled
(Experimental) Semi-Transparent Overlay OSD = Enabled

No go on the semi-transparent OSD ...

OSD seems to take on the pattern, but when TV or Recording is playing, the screen is blank (black)?? When I disable Overlay Color Keying the picture comes back, but then so does the opaque OSD ... Got me?

OH ... Also, Screen Saver does not wake up (or is very delayed) on mouse movement or space bar. Several mouse clicks will wake it or ESC key.

Lastly, there is no nielm/detailview/* in my properties file??

Thanks, T.

Does the Nielm STV have an option to export the library Show information to a XML or data file? I noticed that Malore's STV does this and I was wondering if the Nielm STV does it also? I am developing a application to interface with Sage TV and I am trying to get hooks into the library metadata. Seems this may be possible?

Hello Nielm,

Just wondering if you are going to release a 2.1 version of this?

Nielm has stated that he won't release a 2.1 version until the SageTV ver 2.1 is released. Remember that SageTV is only in the release candidate stage.

There are several ways I believe... There is a data dump (enabled via the properties file) that writes out information on all SageRecordings and is automatically updated...
There is also the shows.xml which is copied from Malore's STV (accessed via Malore-style Sage Recordings)

I don't use either myself...

I have noticed that each recorded or watched show is accompanied by 4 index/log files and these files don't get deleted when the show does so they really build up over time. It would be nice if these extra files got cleaned up when the show they are attached to is deleted.

So far this is the only way: Click Here and Click here. These are in this long posting. You can add extra lines in the file for the different file type you want delete, such as .txt, or .log etc
You can set the file as a scheduled task in Windows to run every week or night.

yep.. happened to me all of a sudden last night... Probably nothing to do with my STV (try running the Original to confirm that just enabling Overlay Color Keying causes it).
Changing from Cyberlink to Intervideo/NonCSS decoders fixed it, so it is a directX/decoder/Sage Core problem... 2 reboots later, and cyberlink decoders worked fine again... Very odd...

Same behaviour as OriginalV2... space bar sometimes works, sometimes doesn't (depends on how SS was triggered)... Mouse movement never woke it. Clicking: Don't click on or near the logo (the non-clickable area in my STV is about 1/3x1/3 of the screen centered on the logo, In OrigV2 it is just the logo itself)...

There won't be until you go to the file detailed info screen for a Sage Recording. Also its not a literal '*' but nielm/detailview/<various settings>

Support of non-latin characters in menu.xml

Tried modifying menu.xml. With latin characters their are no problems.

However, with greek characters (unicode)..

1. When saving the file, one has to save it as unicode format,
2. The menus get messed up in SageTV and the Greek characters don't appear.

Is there a way or setting to do this?

I *think* this will only be possble in SageTV 2.1 (which has lots of i18n fixes)...

I tried entering Unicode char refs (eg β ) in the xml and it showed up OK in 2.1, but didn't show up at all in 2.0...
I also tried entering Unicode chars (αβγδεζΑΒΓΔΕΖV) and saving file as unicode -- as you did, again 2.0 showed blank, but 2.1 was fine...

Great!

If I do the changes in the current .xml, do you expect any changes when you migrate your full STV to 2.1?
