MythTV now running on the MediaMVP!
Check out http://mvpmc.sourceforge.net/
It's still in alpha state, but basic functionality is there. No HD support fo course as the MVP can't handle displaying that, but it's great to see this join the Xbox as cheap alternative frontends to PC's. I think a lot of folks will buy these units at $85 retail prices. Nice units but lousy software from the vendor. Any updates on getting a Sage frontend running on the MVP? Thanks, Mike |

What? Lousy software from Hauppauge? Who'd a thunk? I only thought they had lousy drivers (grumble grumble)
Seriously cool news though ![]() |

From what I see on that website, they have a looooonnnng way to go. That interface is less functional than the current MediaMVP default interface. Other than NFS connections, I don't think it's anything special at the moment.

The hard part was reverse engineering the kernal support for the platform. Now that that's done, I expect the rest to come pretty quickly. the xbox front end works in 64M of memory, so I don't think the footprint will be an issue.
But in any case, what's the progress on a sage client for the MediaMVP? Thanks, Mike

Nobody knows, so I guess the Myth folks are way ahead!! hehe. Anyway, your right, they must have the hard part out of the way with the hauppauge kernel. How much ram does the MVP have? I thought it was something like 16mb. If so, that is a tight squeeze for Myth, but I think it's more of a pseudo interface, than MythTV running like it does on Xbox. That would make the footprint even smaller than the 64 they use on the Xbox.

The MediaMVP is pretty limited from a hardware perspective compared to an xbox, but is cheap and remote friendly. The Xbox is a fine frontend, but even it can't display Myth High Definition recorded content. Still need a big PC for that.
BTW, the guys who built the HD card for Myth/Linux are close to releasing a new version with QAM support! Should be nice for those folks without 5C on their locals. Supports multiple of these cards too. Any new info on HD support in Sage? Thanks, Mike
