Question Chipset recommendations for 350 ?

If I were of a mind to create a new PVR system utilizing my existing single hauppauge 350 card (using the tv-out stuff), and wanted to minimize all the problems I see in these fora, what motherboard chipset would be most likely to avoid these problems?

Jadawin,

I just built a new system for Sage into which I put one of my PVR-350 cards. I bought the base system from Tiger Direct for $20 (case, KB, mouse, speakers, 350 watt power supply and Soyo K7VME mb). I added an Athlon XP 2200+, 256 MB PC2100 DDR, and a hard drive I had laying around.

So far the Sage has functioned perfectly without a single lockup or any kind of problem. The only problems I have had with the new system are all cpu heatsink related as the HSF I bought isn't really up to the job. That problem should be corrected tomorrow when the new Thernaltake HSf arrives.

Karen

I had problems with ABIT VT7 motherboard, I replaced it with GIGABYTE "GA-8IPE1000 PRO-G" i865PE Chipset Motherboard and all the problems went away. It was recomended by someone in this post: http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...&threadid=6815

and he recomended this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...128-231&depa=0

Once again, I did get it and now it works perfectly well. I heard that VIA chipset that was on my abit could be causing those problems I've experienced.
