Screen Calibration
Is there any software out there that has some sort of calibration page to set up my screen?
The reason I ask is I'm not sure that things are right pon my setup when it comes to aspect ratios and so on. I am getting confused as to which ratio my TV should be at and what settings Sage/TV out should be on. Any help would be grand |

Yeah, it's great, especially if you've never done it before, it guides you throught the whole process (brightness, contrast, hue, sat, sharpness), plus it's got a bunch of test patterns to further tweak if you're insane like some of us

I don't know about you guys, but I have video essentials and unless it has been updated recently, it's not very user freindly. The copy I have was transfered from video disc, thats how old the information is.
TYhe info is great, but teh dvd presentation and navigation just stinks for teh newby. I would recommend AVIA as a better easier to follow and understand calibration DVD.

I've had it sitting on my desk for a while now and should get going with it. I am not sure exactly how it is supposed to be used. My TV (Mitsubishi WT-46809) has different inputs and I think the settings are adjustable for each Input, but in order to view the DVD it has to be set to DVD-In. Any tips anyone? Thanks,

As for AVIA, my understanding is that it's limited in that it doesn't contain below black or above white information. Not to start the BTB/WTW debate here, but BTB and WTW are present on commercial DVDs and not having that on a setup disk seems like it would reduce the usefulness, making it harder to properly calibrate the display, ie to make sure you don't crush WTW. You're correct, the settings are per-input (Actually we've got the same set ).Not sure what you're getting at with the DVD-In. I assume you mean that's the only input with a DVD player connected. If you could give a list of your sources and what inputs they're on I could probably give you a better idea of what you could do. |

That's what I figured, yeah you'll have to hook something up to them capable of playing the DVD, so whatever that means, like hooking the DVD-Player's S-Video or Composite out up to the others.
One thing to keep in mind is that since the DVD player isn't the source you normally use on those other inputs, the settings might not be the same. For example your VCR may output different brightness/contrast than your DVD player. |

Since you have the same set, perhaps you can give me some ideas. The only HD I receive is via my 920 4DTV. When I originally got my digital TV I was awed by the digital quality. When I installed the HDD-200 I found that the quality of the same TV program (HBO) was better on the non HD channel than it was on the HD channel of HBO. I tried adjusting the set by eye, but never got it to look really great.

Boy, I'm not sure about that, I don't have any experience with most of that equipment, and from waht you describe, it sounds like it's something I'd have to see to understand.
