Using a ATI 9800 Pro with a Sony System

I have the AIW 9800 Pro that came with my Sony computer. It worked perfectly during the 15 trial and about 3 weeks after that. Now it wont record the tV shows, and only works sporadically if at all.

My question is has anybody with the same hardware have a suggestions or a fix?

I don't want to use another card or a USB device, I want to try and use what I have.

Is there another product that you know of that works with this?

Thanks

Chaz

I wasn't aware that SageTV was supporting TV cards that use software mpg encoding (such as the ATI All-In-Wonder products).
I take it your sony is running Windows Media Center Edition 2004.
I also have an ATI AIW 9800 Pro, but I gave up trying to get SageTV to work (back in march 2004) after reading several posts in these forums that said SageTV was only supporting Hardware based mpg2 TV cards for the time being, and that they may conside support for All-In-Wonder's (aka software based encoding solutions) in the future, but not likely for the current Ver2 release.
With that said, if you were able to get it to run (initially), I may try downloading the latest trial version and see what happens. If I get it running, I will report back.

In the mean time, 2 other PVR programs you could try:
Got All Media (previously know as GotTV PVR)(http://www.gottvpvr.com/Downloads/default.aspx)
Free (I have not tried it yet)
OR
BeyondTV (http://www.snapstream.com/Products/Products_PVS3.asp)
$60 (I ran the trial version, and it worked fine)

I've also tried ATI's own PVR app, the MultiMedia Center (MMC), but it's poorly integrated and clumsy to use. The only benefit is, it allows you to use ATI's hardware accelarated VideoSoap tools (cleans up video signal before encoding) while recording shows.

I too would like to hear more about this because AFAIK SageTV does NOT support any software encoding video cards.

Only ATI card it works with AFAIK is the E-home which is the only ATI card with hardware MPEG encoder.

Really wonder what you got going on that Sony???
