Still Struggling with IVAC 15/16 issues
I'm still struggling with a few issues which I believe are related to the IVAC 15/16 Drivers. These are:
1. Video Freeze on the TV. Sometimes this can be corrected by putting Sage to sleep and then restarting live TV. Sometimes I just loose the OSD and this requires a restart of Sage. Non of these Freezes cause the PC to lock up. They generally occur when switching between Live TV and a program that is being recorded. Sometimes they occur when just switching channels. They never occur when only one tuner is in use. As an additional note it appears that since I installed service pack 2 these freezes are less frequent and for a while there I thought SP2 had solved the issue. It ran for almost two days without a freeze. But then last night it froze up and I lost the OSD and had to restart Sage. 2. When recording on one tuner and watching Live TV on the other the scheduled recording or manual recording gets broken up into multiple files. These files do no play back correctly. There are generally gaps during playback and you will see it skip parts of the recorded show. I understand that Sage should be recording these a one continuous file under normal conditions. Again when I a have a future recorded show that is recorded when the systems is not in use everything works fine. So this also leads me to believe that these problems come into play when both tuners are active. If anyone has any thoughts on possible solutions or suggestions I would appreciate your help. My feeling is that the issue with mixed drivers is unsolved and if I am wrong I would appreciate knowing why. Is Hauppauge and Frey still working on a fix or do they consider the current drivers as having solved the problem?

Hi,
I have the 15/16 combo working well without these recording issues. I do not use TV out so cannot comment on that- but I can check that out on my 350 later today. As for the skipping or non- recording of parts of the show- I have experienced that with even only the 350 in my system(Basically the progress bar notifies a complete recording- but as you watch it- you realize that parts of the show are missing abruptly). But since my system is barely a week old- can't add significantly to the knowledge base. But just thought would let you know that at least the recording issues etc have been solved by the new drivers(TV out and OSD still unverified- ) and that the skipping/ part non- recording issue is something I have experienced with the 350. But I have not seen that recurring over the last week ( basically after I did the driver etc overhaul to add in the other tuners). Which makes me think your problem may not be coming from the drivers- Thanks. |

YHY I found the problem/solution on the TV out video freezes. Originally I had just a 350 installed in my system. As it turned out when using power management the 350 requires a restart when coming out of standby. With the help of kny3twalker and Alex0230 I have been using a program by Microsoft called devcon which allows me to restart the 350. When I installed the 250 I did not think it would require a restart( so I pushed that idea to the resses of my mind and proceeded to bank my head against the wall for weeks) as well but as it turns out it does . So when I changed my bat file to include a restart for both tuner cards the freezes went away and they have been operating smoothly now for three days. By the way I am using the 22162 version of the drivers.
