Refurbished Computers
Someone commented not to purchase a refurbished machine for SageTV use. Can anyone further comment? Is it really that big a problem? I have found a really great computer -- but it is a refurb.

The same issues with refurbished computers apply equally to SageTV as they do to other applications. There is nothing magical about SageTV that makes it puke on refurbished machines.
If the machine has the right specs and it is not broken, then there will not be a problem. |

I've purchased 7 refurbished computers and only had problems with one, but then the company who made that one (monorail) went out of business. Still have 2 of them, one running SageTV.
A good percentage of refurbs are just computers people returned because they didn't like them. If they have a 30 day return policy and someone returns it, it can't be sold as new. Last edited by malore; 08-04-2004 at 02:19 PM. |
