HD300 Versions 1.0 & 1.1

I had to remove the boards from a few of my HD300s recently, and was surprised to find out that there were at least two versions of the circuit boards inside the HD300s! Check out the attached photo, version 1.0 is on the left and version 1.1 is on the right. The obvious difference is the orientation of the heatsink, but there are less obvious differences also.

I wonder if the different hardware versions are functionally identical?

Are they labeled differently on the exterior of the case?

(Asking mainly to subscribe to this thread but do want to know.)

Not that I've been able to see, from the exterior they look identical. You can see the version numbers silk-screened on the bottom of the circuit boards.
