Upgrading from 9.1.x to 9.2.1 - steps?

Sorry for the newbie post. I am building a new SageTV server on W10 64 bit in a virtual environment. I still have my old rig in place W7 running 9.1.5. I have the new server setup and working well. However, when connecting the new client 9.2.1 to the old server, some things are missing. So, I think the right move is to upgrade the old server, 32 bit W7 machine to 9.2.1. Ideally, I won't use the old server for long, but still haven't made the transition. If I want to upgrade the old server to a 32 bit version of 9.2.1, do I just download the new .exe and run it on the old server? is there more to do? Using OpenDCT and Comskip, otherwise everything is pretty vanilla.

Thanks

Steve

I did the same upgrade several months ago and there were NO issues. I made a crazy number/variety of backups and didn't need any of them. Backups are never wasted time though.

After running the install, everything operated like before, but with the new code. I understand that moving from 32 bit to 64 bit is somewhat more interesting though. I stayed with 32 bit.

Upgrading from 9.1.x to 9.2.1

Thanks for the quick response. I wasn't sure if I was missing some docs on how to or if it was just as easy as back up and run the .exe. I'll give it a go and we'll see.

Thanks again.

If anything isn’t working when you get done, you can always rerun the installer and select repair.

Upgrading from 9.1.x to 9.2.1 - steps?

I managed to pull this upgrade off over the weekend. For those interested in doing the same, I did hit one little bump. After running the 9.2.x exe, I restarted and was immediately presented with a Java error. After using these forums, I found a post from stuckless that recommended removing Java and having the .exe install the correct version of Java. I removed Java and then ran the .exe choosing Repair. Everything has been working great after that.

For a couple minutes, I was trying to figure out if I should rollback and pretend that nothing ever happened or if I should press forward.

Thanks for the advice and for the help. Special thanks to those who posted and got me out of a jam.
