Some recordings NOT showing up in 'recorded shows' list

I searched for this, but wasn't quite sure what was the correct term, since the words I used didn't turn up the answer, so here goes:

I have a couple of Favorites which AREN'T showing up anywhere in my list of recorded shows. Yes, for some reason, Favorites get sent WAAAY down to the bottom of the list (still not sure why that happens), but these couple of shows don't show up anywhere unless 'searched' for, upon which, there they are.

Is it because some of them are marked as 'Manual' recordings and some marked as 'Favorites'? And if so, why would this matter.

To make them ALL show up, do I have to change half of the already recorded shows to either a Favorite or Manual designation, aka no mixed designations?

Yes, I am guessing it is because of the sort type being used. I have this problem when using the web UI as it likes to use Intelligent sorting. But I find Intelligent to be a misnomer. I prefer reverse date sort order - always place newest recordings at the top.

As do I, but for some reason, Favorites ALWAYS go to the bottom of the list. But these Favorites don't even show up in the list, unless searched for.

UPDATE: I think I figured it out: 'Grouping' was turned on in that mystery 'Options' screen I always forget is there. No idea why 'Grouping' would eliminate certain shows from my Recordings list, but that seems to have fixed it
