We should have a backup plan. There isn't much on SageTV on reddit, but perhaps that should be the backup plan?

reddit might be good for future discussions, but I would hate to lose the years of details here. Does anyone know if the contents here are archived anywhere or how we would do that if not? Maybe Jeff had a long term plan for the post-Google world...

agreed - I'd love to be able to download the entire site. Any idea how many terabytes that might be?

Narflex had given updates on the forum situation on the Github site for SageTV.

I was worried as well, and have no clue as to where to go on Reddit, if it's being proposed as a backup - could someone point me in the right direction (I'm not at all active on Reddit and am pretty sure I don't have an account). Also, what does it take to backup the site? It would be great to have a backup/mirror, as well as other contingencies or at least related sites for sharing news and concerns the next time there's a problem with the forum. Are there additional people who could help with forum fixes when there are problems?

Nice to see the site back up. Thanks to Narflex for still hanging around and keeping the legacy going. Cheers
![]() I've never used Reddit either, but learn it if I have to(I feel so old saying that). Just please don't consider Facebook an option. I haven't used it in years. I'd rather get a letter in the mail. Jim Last edited by xjim1; 12-02-2019 at 08:48 PM. |

Yes, thanks to Narflex for the maintenance. And yes, just this past two weeks the community was very helpful in getting a problem I had solved. Couldn’t have done it without the forums. If it cost $10 a year to keep running, it would be money well spent.

I'd be willing to offer backup storage, and/or possibly a VM, to the powers that be, for free.

No kidding! I came to look something up last week and the "site closed" message had me so concerned that I spent days hitting "refresh" every few hours to see if anything had changed.
It would be good if we had some way of archiving the forums and the downloads for the various tools/plugins that have been developed (especially since we've lost some important people and I don't think all of them have kept the last working versions of their tools available) in case something ever happens to this one. Many thanks to Narflex for sticking around! |

It looks like this site is running on a very old version of vBulletin. Maybe it needs to be upgraded / patched?

On my home PC with my DNSmasq ad protection no issues, but on my phone on the cell network using the forum looks very scary with ads
Looking at the mobile browser page in chrome at home see some potentially bad sites I don't see with the desktop site serconmp.com viatepigan.com and oodsotoso.com Definitely I would stay away from the mobile forum. Martin |
