Channels DVR, like PlayonTV, is limited to stereo because of the providers. They do NOT want to provide 5.1 to PC based recording and playback because of their paranoia about piracy. No one will ever be able to openly provide 5.1 via a browser, which is how Channels and Playon do their thing.

So your complaints should be with the providers. Not Channels or PlayOn.

I have been trialing Channels for a couple of weeks now and general like the way it works. I hate the interface. But the program does work. It records everything I throw at it. It combines OTA with the streaming stuff via TVE. I can live with the stereo only as it saves me a lot of money.

Not sure if I can get used to the interface. If someone would write a plugin for KODI to use channels as a backend DVR, I would be much happier.

PS. And it has automatic commercial skipping built in. Even for the streaming stuff.
