Attached a (truncated) copy of recent hang event log. Thanks for all your help.

Both the newest and older log files show that it’s shutting down Comskip right before the hang is detected. While it may be a coincidence, you can always try disabling or uninstalling it to see if that helps.

I disabled comskip and Malore extras, but no change. I'm at a loss, I may have to re-install my server from scratch.

See if a plugin in causing the problem: - Remove ALL plugins and reboot. - If the hang goes away then add them in one by one until you find the problem. See if your wiz.bin is corrupted: - Stop the server. - Copy the existing wiz.bin and wiz.bak. - Delete wiz.bin and wiz.bak. - Reboot. If the hang goes away it's a pretty good bet that the wiz.bin is corrupted. The only "recovery" is to start with a new wiz.bin (which is what happens when you delete the existing wiz.*) or use a wiz.bin from a recent backup before the hang started. See if you have a drive failing: - Remove all of the import directories and recording directories and then reboot. - If the hang goes away, add the recording and import directories back one at a time. In my experience these are the usual causes for a hang.

What linux os & version are you running on? I know I had some issues in Ubuntu family. Recently switched to MxLinux 18.1 with 4.19 kernel ( was my primary linux driver for other than media server)using Hauppauge pci cards & seems to be running smoothly so far. Still ironing out the kinks around sysvinit/systemd issues. Running with systemd but prefer sysvinit for security & privacy, functionality reasons. Are your tuner cards all network/external or do you have any internal cards installed?

I am running Ubuntu 18.04.2. I followed some of the suggestions that Comskip was probably to blame so I went ahead and blocked it from running during the daytime. Since making the change I no longer have the issue. However, whenever Comskip is running it does still freeze up the system but it now only runs over night.
