Recording Quality Advice Needed
Hello,
I have a HD PVR 60 (uses HDMI to record). I am recording from a streaming device that is streaming at an unknown bitrate but I assume it is roughly 3GB/hr based on what Netflix streams at for 1080p. I currently record at Best H.264 which is 5.9 GB/hr but should I be recording at Great H.264 which is 3.8GB/hr (closer to probably what the stream actually is)? I'd like to maximize quality over space but can recording at a higher than streaming bitrate be beneficial?

I would try both and see if you can notice a difference. If the streaming device is using H.265 then you would need a higher bitrate with H.264 to capture all of the information as H.265 is more efficient.
