What Does "DT" mean in EPG?

I have DirectTV Premiere. Many of the channels are duplicates, such as:
KRON and KRONDT. I presume DT means digital transmission. Both show up as Channel 4. Both are 1080i. These are satellite transmissions, so all channels are digital transmission. Why the differentiation? Which one should I keep?

Keep the “DT” or “HD” variants and change your DirecTV menu settings to hide SD channels.

Exactly - the DT generally means the HD version of the channel. It may be redundant now as in many instances all of the channels may be HD, but back during the OTA TV transition days there were two stations broadcasting - the analog version and the digital version. The digital version was (almost always) the HD version of the channel.

Cable companies or satellite companies may still carry SD versions of those channels for customers that don't have HDTVs so that they don't get letterboxing when using composite video cables to connect the STB to the TV.

Thanks for the responses. Yes, I guess the non-"DT" channels are redundant, as more seem to be 1080i, just like its brethren "DT" variant.

Another question, how do I create multiple channel lineups in SageTV. Seems like I can pick and choose which channels to include, but only one way line-up? I have only one source, DirectTv, but would like to create lineups with a varying set of channels.
