EPG _does not_ update

So I've tried and tried to get my epg to update. I've unset and set channels in the channel setup, and it hasn't worked. I've reset the time to update by manually editing the properties file. I've checked my date and time, ahve a working connection, and leave the computer on all the time. Can anyone give me any tips on what else to try? Or is there some sort of a log I can turn on where I can see what failures might be occuring when it tries to update?

Has the EPG ever updated? Is there a firewall set to automatically block access?

Edit: When you toggled channels on/off, did you select "Done"? When editing the properties, had you first completely exited SageTV?

Yes. It's been updating for most of a year. The network configuration hasn't changed. The last listed update was July 12th. I did select 'done' in the channel setup, and I had quit sage entirely before editing the properties file.

EDIT: just to be 100% certain, what ports are needed for the updater? I'll double check the router configuration, but as stated, it had been updating, and nothings changed...

Just so you know, I'm only guessing here, since I haven't had this problem. And, I don't know the ports.

Perhaps also verify that the lineups for your tuners are still listed correctly. I would consider making backup copies of your properties files in another directory & then trying to set the EPG lineup again in Setup -> Setup Wizard -> <select your source> -> EPG Lineup, or even trying to delete just the properties files & reconfiguring. (Don't delete wiz.bin.) Maybe the lienup name has changed? If it still doesn't work, you'll still have the old properties file to return to from its backup.

Don't forget about emailing tech support if no one comes along with a definite answer.

42024 is for the client/server connection
7818 is for streaming
7760 is for the EPG download

Thanks. I think I'll have to e-mail tech support on this one. I've checked my router config, and I'm not blocking 7760. I tried to remove the source and readd it, and now it hangs on downloading the lineup for RCN Cable - Boston.

Is there a way to change the time that sage updates the schedule? I installed the program in the afternoon, so now it updates in the afternoon. Not that I have even noticed the update (only 2 days old), but I "think" I'd like it better if it happened in the very early morning.

see post #20 in the faq: Is there a way to specify an exact time for the update to occur? (I want to have the update occur at 3:00 AM, but I don't want to stay up that late!)
