99.99 PVR 250, 79.99 200GB, and Free Partition Magic

all at CompUSA

I do not know if these deals are local to Dallas or just Texas

but the 80 dollar 200 GB is not
I saw it at slickdeals.net

but there is also in my ad the pvr 250 for 99.99 and the free partition magic after rebate

This one seems to be national -- or, at least it is available in NJ too.

The 200GB drive is from Hitachi & has an $80 mail-in rebate.

I have noticed that the Hitachi Harddrives tend to come with hugh mail in rebates
I have seen that 200 GB with 130 mail in rebates as well
they really hope you do not send it in

Probably. Those providing rebates must really hate me, since I read the fine print and do exactly as they say for every rebate... haven't missed one yet.

Watch out for rebates from CompUSA! If the rebate has a New Rochelle, NY address, run away as fast as you can. CompUSA (and Best Buy) use a fulfillment company that does NOT honor rebates. They will string you along for over 6 months with a variety of excuses, drive you crazy resending in information, and only pay once in a while. CompUSA will not help you get the rebate. In the middle of my pain with the fulfillment company, they were written up in a magazine article as one of the worst offenders. Retailers such as Fry's and OfficeMax have been great to work with. On hard drives, western digital has been great at honoring their rebates and they have had some spectacular rebates. I don't have any experience with Hitachi.

This rebate goes to Hauppauge. Last time Compusa has the same deal, my rebate check came in just a few weeks.

That's good the rebate goes to Hauppauge. Sounds like it will work fine.
