|
Adding second PC with a tuner?
So I have an existing PC with a tuner working with SageTV.
Now I want to add one in the basement. The cases are very small so there is only room for one tuner in each. What software do I need to install on the second PC so that it can serve as a tuner/encoder for the existing server as well as a client for the TV in the basement?

On your second PC you need SageClient and SageRecorder. You then setup SageRecorder as a network encoder. You enable the SageTV on your first PC to act as a host (can remember terminology used) and point SageClient to that PC at startup (or make permanent with the SageProperties file).
Overall, simple to do, and takes just a few minutes (and running between rooms to set up). I have used this way for months and it works well. I have both cards capture to a common 3rd PC which acts as the Media Server (and is jammed with hard drives).
