Background sound from the broadcast

This is strange. I have cable coming into my H250 card directly. No cable box. I am watching a recording of "The Grid" from TNT. In the background I am hearing a recording that says "You are listening to a secondary audio channel on TNT to return to your old program audio please select normal audio on your television." A week ago I was watching CSI and I could hear a person narrating the movement of the actors as if they were explaning it for the visually impaired. Has anyone had this problem?

Sage tv v2.0.19
win pvrII (I think this is a 250)

Besides this I still love my sage!!!!

Do a search for SAP, if you don't find anything here, try the SHSPVR forums, I know it's come up, but I don't remember where.

See the Audio is in Spanish... thread.

I encountered a similar problem that only occurred on the weekends and on a single channel. I think I was able to work around it by turning off one channel of my speakers. It went away after a few weekends. I came to the conclusion that it was related to the station upgrading their equipment for HDTV.

I had the same problem with my USB2, and never resolved it. I know for sure it was not my TV, because I ran audio through a set of speakers. I also noticed if I recorded the same show with my 250 or 350, this didn't happen. For me it was definately something with the USB2 drivers and or Sage.

Do you have the newest drivers for the 250 from Hauppauges support web site?

I have occasionally had that problem with my USB2, but do not recall ever having had it with my pair of PVR-250's.

There is something a bit flakey about the USB2 drivers because it has also happened even when using Hauppauge's own WinTV viewing application. That rules out it being a problem specific to SageTV.

You could also check out the drivers at http://www.shspvr.com/

Sometimes he has some even newer beta type drivers that are not yet posted on Hauppauge's own site that fix a few things.

As I said, I don't recally having that prob with my 250's, only occasionaly with my USB2. I've set the merit values in the properties file higher for the 250's so it's even less likely to use the USB2 (and therefor even less likely to have the SAP audio prob in a recording). I've never found a solution for the USB2, but it doesn't happen often enough for me to worry about now anymore.

Does anyone know of a way to permenantly lock out the SAP mode for any/all of the Haupauge devices?
