When I copy v9 SAGE.JAR AND LUCENe-core-3.6.0.jar to the Sage directory and restart Sagetv, I get this error: An exception occurred in Java. Java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/lucene/search/query I have tried different versions of Java and it tells me to run Java 1.4 |

Probably need to remove the old version of lucene-core-3.0.1.jar

Pretty sure lucene is supposed to be in the JARS subdirectory now.

Why are you copying in files..why not use the installer?
Sometimes a java error like that is due to an old java version being in the sagetv folder...look for a jre subfolder. k

I had lucene file in wrong place. Thanks
Ok. I have downloaded 9.1.4.676. What do I do with this file? What is the v9 windows installer? You are talking to someone who doesn't know "java". Thanks Thanks. I overlooked that lucene was in the jars directory this go round. That fixed that problem. I have downloaded the new .jar container. What do I do with it? I see references to a v9 windows installer but I have yet to see this installer. I don't "speak" java. That is why I didn't use the installer for the other 2 files. Thanks |

Look up 2 posts to the post from jusjoken. His signature has a link to the Windows installer and notes.
This is a typical installer (setup program) like any other program for Windows would use. No need to know anything about Java or manually move individual files around.

The only reason to manually install jars is if the Windows installer falls behind the Linux side where the java gets updated and built together. In that case, sage.jar just gets copied over the old one (in the main directory). Usually it's safer/easier to wait for the Windows installer update.

OK. The download is a zip file. If I left click, it wants to extract. The extract folder contains 2 files. If I click on the sage executable, it gives me a java error. I am at a loss what I should be doing here. I look through your (all of you) posts on V9 and you are waaay over my head. Most of us are used to the way V7 and previous versions installed.

If you go to this post: https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63009 The very first post is regularly updated with a link to the latest installer. As of today, that link will take you to: https://bintray.com/opensagetv/saget...vwin/9.1.5.683 Which is where the files are currently hosted on BinTray, but that location could change as newer versions get released. BinTray has a tabbed interface and you start out on the "General" Tab. You will see other tabs listed along the top of the page that say "Read Me", "Release Notes", etc. Look for the one that says "Files" and click it. There on the Files Tab you will see 3 different installers for SageTV, SageTV Client, and SageTV Placeshifter. You probably just need the one for SageTV, but the others are available there too if you need them. Back on the General Tab, there is also a link that takes you to the source code on GitHub. You don't want this - there is no reason to go there unless you want to view or edit the Sage source code or if you want to report an issue to their bug tracker or read what others have posted there. I'm guessing you followed that link by mistake and ended up with the zip file from somewhere on GitHub.

thank you, thank you, thank you.
i have been on this page a number of times, but never noticed the FILES tab. Done. Thanks again. I must have downloaded the wrong file 5 times at least. I like the new recordings list look. Can't wait to see what else has changed. Google goofed when they "buried" this product. Thanks to all of you that has kept it "new". |
