I can't tell if this is sarcasm or legit anger...
The extenders play MKVs fine unless they are HEVC, which, as noted on page one, didn't exist when they were created. The message you quote is very old and outdated and at the time it was written, HD300s DID play just about everything you threw at them. And Jeff is still around here occasionally, so if you have a question, ask him.
