I haven't used the Docker container before so I don't have any ideas to suggest.

I'm not sure that it's just Docker related. Maybe, but I won't know till I have time to test.

What sort of logging can I get you that may help with this?

Ok. Got a new server docker set up and pointed it to the new encoding server. All was working great until I added my limited amount of plugins.

Same problem came back. Now I'm removing plugins to identify which one is causing the issue.

Not sure what to tell you. I know that I never see this type connection errors in my logs, but, I also don't run an encoding server.

Based on the error "connection refused", I would look at the network encoding server. ie, the docker container's network appears to be fine, since you can connect to sagetv, so the logical thing would be that the VM is blocking your connection. Given that the VM is windows, are you sure, it's not throwing up a firewall??

In doing some googling I found this question/answer.

They basically distill it down to this..

Quote:
You are trying to connect to the wrong IP/port.
You have not started your server.
Your server is not listening for connections.
On Windows servers, the listen backlog queue is full.
That last one is especially interesting, given you are running a Windows server (in a vm).

Have you looked at the network encoding log on the server to see what errors it is complaining about.

If you are running a VM and you are configuring sagetv to use a network encoder on the VM how is it gettings it's IP? Does it change? Does sagetv need to be explicitly aware of it's IP address?

I really does appear to be a networking issue, but I really don't think it has anything to do with docker itself.

Don't know if you have tried passing through a Nic to the VM or if you are using the Virtual Nic from unRAID. I have always used a Nic passed through to any VM I have SageTV on. Don't remember any problems like this going with a passed through nic rather than the virtual nic from unRAID.

I haven't tried that yet, but this config was working for months. I think over a year then it suddenly started having issues.

The really annoying part is that some recordings are perfect and some have nothing but issues.
