File and folder names are correct. I didn't have CommandIR set to Y (I thought that was for specific hardware) but have set to Y now and restarted. Still no joy. Full log:

Any further ideas on this? This is my last remaining problem with the new server, can't switch over until this works... I'm out of ideas.

Forget all of that. Difficulty seems to be the lircd.conf - it defines "1" as "KEY_1" where the scripts seem to be expecting just "1"

If I edit the file and take out all the "KEY_" then the usb-uirt flashes when expected. Result! But no, as channels still don't change. Only 3, 6, 7, 8 work, the rest don't change the box.

Any ideas how I can convert the data from the old .ir file for this?

Couldn't you just update the script, to send "KEY_1" when "1" is passed, etc. (ie, just prepend "KEY_" to the number?

if you use irsend from the command line does it work when sending KEY_1 KEY_2, etc.

Would that be any different to just taking the "KEY_" out of the conf file? irsend works with "1" after that.

In theory, it would be the same. But, we have to assume the original lirc file works, or else, it would likely be removed by now. There is a small chance that in removing the KEY_ parts that something else inadvertently changed in the lirc file (which is my suspicion, since you said some keys work).

Okay, done that. Added a new variable in gentuner:
PFX="KEY_"
and the send is now:
/usr/bin/irsend SEND_ONCE $REMOTE $PFX$KEY

It works as well as before, i.e. flashes for every digit but only occasionally registers on the STB.

I may have explained badly: this STB is a V1rgin V Box HD / Cisco 4585DVB. The nearest lircd I could find was the Virgin Tivo. We have one downstairs and the remotes operate both, so I just hoped it would work with this box. There's no guarantee it would. But the version of the remote on the lircd website picture is an old model so it may not work. Hence my questions about converting my old ir file...

I assume we can't learn through sage?

Thought I'd try irrecord to record the keypresses. No go because it says it's not a LIRC device:
Code:
irrecord: could not get hardware features
irrecord: this device driver does not support the LIRC ioctl interface
irrecord: major number of /dev/ttyUSB0 is 188
irrecord: make sure /dev/ttyUSB0 is a LIRC device and use a current version of the driver
irrecord: could not init hardware (lircd running ? --> close it, check permissions)

Do you have multiple /dev/ttyUSB devices?
Code:
ls -al /dev/ttyUSB*

Changed my hardware.conf, it's no better but no worse either.

I tried to use irrecord with that driver:
Code:
irrecord -d /dev/ttyUSB0 -H uirt2_raw vboxhd.conf
It actually runs like this, but starts off with a familiar error:
Code:
irrecord: uirt2_raw: checksum error
irrecord: uirt2_raw: UIRT version 0905 ok
It goes on to find recognise keypresses and gets to learning, then trying to learn a key it falls apart:
Code:
Found const length: 110448
Please keep on pressing buttons like described above.
................................................................................
RC-5 remote control found.
Found possible header: 896 803
No repeat code found.
Signals are biphase encoded.
Removed header.
Signal length is 12
Now enter the names for the buttons.

Please enter the name for the next button (press <ENTER> to finish recording)
KEY_1

Now hold down button "KEY_1".
Something went wrong. irrecord: uirt2_raw: checksum error
irrecord: uirt2_raw: UIRT version 0905 ok
Please try again. (9 retries left)

Okay, solved this one. My original lirc.conf was indeed the correct one, and I had copied over my Source's RC Options in Sage too, including a prefix of STOP, confirm code OK, and "IR Blaster Repeat Factor" of 2.

After the rest of today trying to find a better set of codes or a way of converting codes, it suddenly occurred to me that maybe the repeat factor wasn't passing through to gentuner, so I tested command line with:
Code:
/usr/bin/irsend --count=2 SEND_ONCE VIRGINTIVO 5 2 3
and guess what?

So I've adjusted gentuner's send to be:
Code:
/usr/bin/irsend --count=2 SEND_ONCE $REMOTE $KEY
And everything seems to be fine.

Thanks for all the help with this.

I had my USB-UIRT setup and working, until today when I shutdown my server to add a couple hard drives. Now when I start up the SageTV docker, the USB-UIRT isn't working for me.

I get the following in my log file.
Nov 18 12:25:23 MediaTower lircd-0.9.0[88]: accepted new client on /run/lirc/lircd
Nov 18 12:25:23 MediaTower lircd-0.9.0[88]: readlink() failed for "/dev/ttyUSB0"

Nov 18 12:25:23 MediaTower lircd-0.9.0[88]: No such file or directory
Nov 18 12:25:23 MediaTower lircd-0.9.0[88]: uirt2_raw: could not create lock files
Nov 18 12:25:23 MediaTower lircd-0.9.0[88]: Failed to initialize hardware

Any suggestions as where to look to fix it?

Just a follow up. Still not sure what happened, but I removed the docker container and images, and reinstalled and it's working fine again.

If I am going to use a Colossus installed as a network tuner on a sagetv server that is itself installed on an UNRAID/Win10 VM, where do I install the USBUIRT? Do I install it on the UNRAID sagetv docker side following these instructions, or do I install it on the WinVM as part of the networked sage server?

Hoping for choice B as it will need to control two boxes at some point.

How come you're not using the SageTV Docker?

That's the goal but I thought the Colossus needed to be hosted on a windows box as there are no Linux drivers for it. The way I understood it, Sagetv Docker would get to the Colossus via SageTV Windows, which would only have the one tuner set up as networked. Am I wrong?
