What's the record for most simultaneous miniclients in Sage?

On V7 I have only been able to get about 4 or 5 before the JVM craps out - this is using Gemstone or Diamond as my UI and these are fairly resource intensive. I have set up a V9 server on unRAID Linux with 3GB as my JVM heap size. I am just in the process of configuring it and setting up tuners, but I plan to try to see if I can get 10 simultaneous connections between HD200/300 extenders plus Placeshifter.

What is the most that anyone has seen?

If this works it might be nice to leave extenders permanently powered on to reduce startup times.

There's zero reason to expect it wouldn't work just fine. If 3GB ends up not being enough, bump it up to 6GB.. that's not really a limit here.
