Hauppauge MediaMVP with SageTV Open Source
Has anyone been successful in getting the old Hauppauge Media MVP to connect to the new Open Source SageTV?
I recently set up a new server and have SageTV running in a Ubuntu VM. I was able to connect an HD200 to the server and that is working fine but the MediaMVP can see the server but just spins on loading the software. I searched the forums and only found recommendations that worked for older versions of SageTV. I tried some of the recommendations, like restarting the service, but nothing has worked yet. I suspect it may be time to retire this device but I hope not since I am not sure what to replace it with. By the way, I have been a lurker here for years, benefiting from all the wisdom. I've just never had the experience to contribute anything of benefit. Thanks to all your combined help. |

I know that in sagetv 7 you had to insert "miniserver/clients=MVP/00\:0F\:22\:00\:06:24/192.168.1.100" without quotes into the sage properties file for the mvp to work. I havn't tested it with sagetv9 though. Of course you need to change the ip address to the one for your media mvp.

Thanks for the quick reply. I finally had time to try this today but it didn't make a difference.
It looked like the HEX numbers were a MAC address so I changed them also to the MAC address of the MVP but that didn't help either. I added the IP address of the Sagetv Server to the miniserver/forced_server_ip setting but that didn't make a difference. I also tried the IP address of the MVP but neither made a difference. I also put the gateway address in the miniserver/gateway setting. The MVP seems to go for a while with the message 'Contacting Servers' Then after a while if will show the message 'Failed to Locate GUI Server' then go back to 'Contacting Servers'. There must be some other settings I am missing. |

mvp.bin is not included in the open source distribution. See https://github.com/google/sagetv/issues/66.
You can download a copy from http://download.sagetv.com/mvp.bin and put it in the SageTV folder (where Wiz.bin is) John |

Thank you for this help. I was able to download the mvp.bin file.
The MVP is gotting farther but now is hanging on the screen telling me the SageTV Media Center is booting up. Any ideas what I might be missing still. Thanks |
