Copy Once Flag

Sorry if this is covered...I spent about half an hour looking and couldn't find anything contrary, but is WMC still the only option for cable card and copy once flag? I have been using WMC for a few years now, but really miss Sage. Thinking about dumping my HDHR Prime for Hauppauge Colossus 2...but looks like it will not record HDMI with HDCP...urgh

I am forced to specific provider as my HOA has a group contract. What is the latest solution for Sage TV with copy once flag?

Thanks

The latest solution can be found here. It uses WMC to tune the copy once show and then captures the output by using an HDMI encoder. The other option is to capture the output of a cable box. There are common HDMI splitters that can be used to remove HDCP to allow this on the Colossus.

... or you could grab an older HDPVR 1212 off Ebay to record from component HD from your set-top-box (STB). I also recommend a USB-UIRT for channel changing the STB, unless the STB can be switched via some other method that's compatible with SageTV.

This would allow you to tune (1) channel at any moment in time for any channels that are copy-once. With my Time Warner account, I still get the local channels via cablecard with the copy-freely flag - not a lot of channels, but it works.

FIOS STB to original Colossus via component and fire-wire channel changing. Never missed a recording due to flags. Not sure that I can SEE a diff between HDMI and component; but, HDMI cabling would be easier.

Looks like Hauppauge is still selling the HD-PVR 1212 if you want a NEW one also: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/websto...ore_hdpvr.html

If you want to go new on a 1212, Amazon may have a better price.
