Try again in a little while

Lately when I try to get Sage and Echo to work it tells me to try again later. It however will go through and tell me that I have x number of messages if I just say "Aske SageTV". So I know they are linked up. Any idea on what is going on?

The "try again later" message is generated by the Echo and not the skill. It usually means the Echo can't communicate with Amazon servers. I've been getting that a lot lately as well.

Some time next week I'll take a look at the Amazon logs to see if that tells me anything. Right now I am battening down the hatches getting ready for Irma. The eye of the storm will be passing over my house sometime Sunday

Stay safe - I regularly visit one of the Caribbean islands that was hit two days ago and they have been devastated. This storm is not one that you want to mess with.

alexa says sagetv server can't connect

I finally got the skill setup, and I have setup echo in placeshifter, made the change in the resource file, forwarded ports 8080 and 31900 to my server and when I get to the 8th number of locator id, alexa says it can't connect to server. When I say the dash, it says it sees it on port 8080. I verified I can connect to server through placeshifter from friend house. I have been saying locator id with and without dash. HELP

I think you have hit a bug. Please tell SageTV to Clear the locator ID then when prompted just say the first digit and let it time out. Tell me when you do that and I will look at the log.

I did what you said. I just spoke the letter B after resetting the locator id. Thanks

See if it works now. Open SageTV and then reset the locator first.

Echo is accepted my locator id and is connected. Alexa is saying it opened my tv recording view but nothing is happening on the server. I also tried opening movies and server doesn't respond ( nothing is happening on screen).

I can see something is going wrong. What java version are you running? Please sent me the sage log file from your server.

You won't see anything happening on the screen unless you start watching something.

I started chasing this bug. The "Phoenix Fanart for Malore Menus" is not importing properly. That plugin is old and has probably not been maintained for quite some time.

I don't think it's causing the Echo problem, but it can't be helping your system

Ok, I'll remove it and retest it.
Thanks!

Also try this. Stop the SageTV server and replace EchoFunctions.jar with the one attached and then rerun the same test you did last time. Send the logfile when you are done.

It won't solve the problem but it will provide me with more debugging info. I see what's happening but I do not know why. (Story of my life.)
