Playing Audio CDs
Is it just me, or is there no way to play Audio CDs inside of Sage? Please tell me that I'm not the only one who would find that useful...

SageTV (currently) does not have any direct way to play audio CD's (although I'm sure there may be way to make it do so).
Quite honestly, I would not see much use for doing so anyway. One can '"rip" all their audio CD's to .mp3's on the hard drive to play. And you can fit almost 100 audio CD's (in mp3 format) into the same piddly 650Meg space that a single audio CD uses itself. Just as a side point... One time I "ripped" over 11 hours of audio CD's into mp3 format and then burned that all onto one single CD that could be played in any of the newer DVD players that support mp3. "rip" the CD's to the hard drive and put the CD's away for safekeeping so they don't get scratched. With that in mind, there really is little reason for SageTV to have an option to play audio CD's (at least as far as I'm concerned). |

Just because you don't see the use doesn't mean that other people wouldn't.
I can tell the difference between "high-quality" MP3s (CBR @ 256 or 320) and uncompressed audio. That is the reason why all of my CDs are ripped to Monkey's Audio (which Sage also doesn't support). |
