New build
I lost my whs v1 server to a water issue in my basement. Replaced all but the case. Should I start over with my whs software or go for Windows 7 or Windows 10.
Thanks Mike

As far as sage is concerned, it makes little difference. Win7 might be easier to manage, with a local UI avaialble.

That said, if I was starting from scratch, I'd probably do a Linux install, just to be able to run SageTV in a 64-bit JVM to utilize more memory.

Sorry for laziness if this is a researchable topic - but - can Linux do Firewire channel changing? I do this on Win7, and recall seeing that someone was able to do this in Win10 as well.

New build
Thanks for the reply. I don't have any experience with Linux. Is there a preferred version that Plays best with sage? Any license issues from my current which was for whs?
Thanks for the help Mike

With the open source version of sage, that's not really any license issues at all. Your existing windows license will function with any open source version of sage, where it is only used for enabling the SageTV/Google provided EPG data.
There is a guide built/being built for linux here: Basic Linux V9 Build and Walkthrough - Version 1
