OK android TV box?

Guys,
I need an "OK" Android TV device for my dad. Main usage would be playback of Audio books or Ebooks on his TV, but I was hoping for maybe a backup for his SageTV extender. Maybe a tablet that has HDMI out???? He lives in the boondocks where WiFi works!!!

I was looking at this one:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SUXC3JA/...I3V01D4WLVGCCY

For me, but it's a little too high end for him. Suggestions? Must run a regular Android account. I'd very much prefer something without a locked bootloader!!! (Verizon $UCK$!! Sorry for the language, but I feel better now. )

Why not the Nexus Player... I think you can get those as low as $49, some times, either online or in store. I think the Nexus player is decent android tv box.

I think the G-Box is a little better specs, but seems to be a nice unit.

Thanks, I think I'll get the Nexus Player. For me, I'd hate it (not enough hardware to try and break), but for him, I think it would be perfect!
