Setting watch flag in Gemstone
I am new to Gemstone and am slowly getting it. I have one problem right now and it is with the watched flag. I can not set it via the Gemstone views. The non Gemstone views I can. I am using Sage v9 OS. Any help would be appreciated.
I really enjoy the Gemstone plugin.

I recall having the same issue... Took me a while to figure it out
IN the flow options I think you need to turn on the detailed play options (something like that) and when you do, you get a very busy play dialog that includes Watched, Delete, and bunch of other stuff. I think the alternative is probably to use the "Watched" button on the remote. If there is another easier way, I'd like to know as well

Stuckless I tried looking for 'detailed play option' or something like that but only could find 'Show play options' and that does not fix it. I do get the 'watched' option to set when I select a video but it will not let me set it. It really seems like a permissions problem in Gemstone.

On a media item press select/enter. This should open a dialog.
If it does NOT open a dialog then go into Options/Customize and change ENTER=Play to No. Now in the dialog, ensure the Advanced Options is selected to show the Watched toggle button. That should allow you to toggle watched on single items. If you want to set/clear watched on groupings you need to press the WATCHED button on the remote and that will bring up a dialog to allow setting or clearing the watched flag on all the grouped items. k |

jusjoken, thanks for your reply.
I have done exactly what you mentioned, but it does not let me change the watched status. I can see it. It just wont change. Does it have to be with a remote? I've tried ctrl-w and just highlighting it and pressing enter. I can go to the 'Folders or Titles' under video and it changes no problem. Any more suggestions??

If you have the option and it's not changing status then it must be throwing an error. I would need you to ensure logging is on DEBUG (Main menu, press options, Utility Functions, Log Options....turn Sage and Gemstone logging on and Gemstone to DEBUG).
Recreate the problem and then upload the sage log (from the SageTV folder) as well as the gemstone.log from the logs folder. k |

It looks like I might have found the problem. I've been using the sagetv service and when I turn it off and just use sagetv I can change the watch status. I'm using version 9 of sagetv so I don't know if that might be the issue.
I turned the debug on but where do I go to get the log??

The SageTV log is in the SageTV folder and called sagetv_0.txt. The gemstone.log file is in the logs folder under SageTV/logs
However, if running as a service causes the issue then I suggest it's a permissions issue. You need to go into the Sage TV Service Control app and use the Change User function to set the user to a user with all the permissions needed for the folder where the media is stored. I believe that will solve this. k |

Yeh, that was my first thought too, but the user I have logging in does have all the rights, plus I can change the watch status under the original folder and title views that are standard.

Trying to understand what you were doing based on the logs so you may need to fill in the blanks....

Yes I set the watch status then deleted a file, but that was when I wasnt using the service. I turned the service back on then re-did the watch status and it did not change, I thought the failure of the watch status would show up later in the log??
Does the log get generated everytime you stop and start the program or is it size based. What do I need to do to get a clean log??

Cleanest is to delete the clientxxxx.txt files and the gemstone.log while SageTV is NOT running....servive off, no client etc. The start SageTV as a service and launch the client ...reproduce the issue only, and then close the client and then stop the service....gather the logs again.
BTW: might be best to include the phoenix.log as well. k |

okay I believe this is a clean set of logs. All I did was open sage then went to gemstone and tried to set the watch status.

There is nothing there that helps me narrow this down. You had not included the phoenix.log file. Was it not there?
Can you also provide a little more in how you are doing this.... - What Flow Type - what view is the Flow set to - what is the logging level set to in Options/Utility Functions/Log Options. Should be debug but I am getting VERY FEW log items in the gemstone log file for some reason. k |

Sure here is the info:
Flow Types - Cover, Inline, Dual, and Wall (All do same) All Views are set to - Sage Video Imports by Folder Log Options - Server/Client (On/On) - Gemstone Log Level (DEBUG) Attached phoenix.log Thanks again jusjoken for all your help.

Nothing in that log either and I cannot recreate the issue...running out of thoughts.
Try setting one of the Flows to a different View....for example, try using TV Shows(Seasons) and see if the watched can be set from there. I only suggest that as the view you are using is one of the most complex (and slow) views of the phoenix views. Although, I just set the watched on a flow using the folders view so this is likely a futile guess. Also, ensure you are trying this on other media files other than this one Arrow one as perhaps it's specific to that file/folder....again, just guessing. k |
