Trying to Set up Sage
Well Guys been a while since I used Sage, as I was setting it up on my Media Server/Center PC and get to the point of setting up my tuner and guide I am getting the dreaded error There was an error connecting to the SageTV Server.Please be sure your Internet connection is established and that you have entered the correct Zip/Postal Code. I have done all that I can from the previous forums and threads. My key is valid and now I just don't know, a little help is what I need. Thanks in advance guys.

I'm guessing that you'll need to see this announcement about EPG data and PM Narflex with your license info.

I saw something similar a few days ago when adding a source with v7. I tried a different zip code that is near mine and it worked.

I get that error when adding a tuner as well.

What works for me is to try it several times until it works.

Kind of like banging your head into a wall until something happens. It usually works for me after 3 or 4 tries. If it's still not working after that you may have a different issue.

Yeah I've tried several times to no avail, I'm using version 6 because I didn't get a upgrade key and I can't get the version 7 patch to work properly for me. I have thought about formatting and starting all the way over, could be feesable that way but I don't know.

If you are going to start from scratch, you might be best off going with v9 (open source version), instead of messing with v6. Essentially, you'd install v7.1.9.256, then copy over the new sage.JAR file (here on the forums), download a Lunene JAR, and copy over the new .EXE files (also here on the forums). Store your key as an environment variable (also described here on the forums) to allow access to the sagetv EPG server. Then, everything will be up and running on a clean new install, at v9.0.0.4 (i believe that's the build floating around). You can then go about configuring everything (sources, folders, etc) up from there. Hopefully, an installer will be available soon, but I believe the steps above are mostly sufficient.

Ok I will try that, what is the link to that particular forum? I got the jar files and the v7.1.9 something or other installer. I was thinking of doing that anyways.

You will find a download link for the lucene jar file on from post 19 on this thread.

Download the latest already compiled sage.jar from here.

Optionally you can also download the Windows executables from post 57 in this thread to remove the trial period.

I set up a VM using all of these over top of a SageTV 7 install and it is working very well.

It is quite alright, well geez, I still don't know what I am doing wrong, I did all the stuff to get to v 9.0.0.4 and still the same thing, what am I missing?

I think I see the problem I am from the us not the uk I don't know why that is there so what is the us country code?

Do you have a firewall? If so, have you checked it's settings per the manual? Have you heard from Narflex if you key is valid?

Is the only problem you're having right now accessing the EPG server? I have seen quite a few posts about v6 keys not working until Narflex has gotten them enabled on the server, so you may want to just hang back until that's done.
