Most of that part of sage was built when texting was done the same way on flip phones...

Finally have a bit of time to play with this. I sideloaded it onto my FireTV. It's a first gen with version 5 installed. I get a connecting screen but it eventually times out and drops back to the opening settings screen.

Interestingly, it shows my server IP listed twice. Both timeout.

I poked a whole in the Windows firewall (port 31099) on the server and then tried it. Didn't work, so I turned the firewall off. That didn't work either.

Clues? Log file attached.

BTW, I have a Flirc on that AFTV, so I'll be trying to get that working as well.

Seeing that same socket activity on Galaxy S4. My Sage Server Win 7 firewall is active, per SageDCT instructions.

I think I might look into copying the base STV's on-screen keyboard into the SecureLogin.XML, and checking it in, which shouldn't be too difficult.
I started working on a PlugIn that displays a "virtual remote". When the user presses a key on this virtual remote it gets sent to the core. I haven't gotten very far due to having no time available at the moment.

Both of those logs show the same error, which is corrupt image coming from the server. Not sure why that would happen.

I think an extended version of this could have an option to show a full keyboard, to make it easier to enter alphanumeric data.

I'll try to compare with logfile back on post 340 and see what changed.

What's the best windows app to view this logfile? Notepad isn't cutting it at the moment.

Notepad++ or Sublime Text

I really think the image is corrupt. It's a SageTV theme image, but for some reason, the stream is getting corrupted data. So it could be the image is corrupted, or something is wrong with the compression. it's really hard to tell, and I'm not sure how to go about troubleshooting it

So this is same error in both logs, not sure it's for the same image, though. It does look like a compression issue in the stream, but, still not sure why it would happen for you, and not for others.

I can't connect either on a Oneplus One (or my Nook HD+ with cm 12.1). But if I go LTE, outside of my home LAN, it connects but since I don't have a keyboard I can't get pass the login screen.

My server is Sage v7 and on win7. I've previously used up to 0.12 alpha and they worked ok.

hmmm.. same here- 0.13 worked for me on note4 locally... 0.14 no longer works.. - I just reinstalled 0.13 and it works locally again.... 0.14 gets stuck at the "connecting screen"

The logs seem to report the same issue, which is that it is getting in error in the communication stream. I was assuming it was related to the image loading, but I'm not so sure.

Interestingly enough, the Alpha-14 build didn't change much. It basically implemented a previously unimplement UI drawing routine that is only used during placeshifting. So, I'm doubtful the 14 build introduced the issue. I'm wondering if it's more random.

Something you can try, is to completely uninstall the app, and then try re-installing the app again.

I'm away for the weekend, but I'll try to look into adding some additional logging late sunday, and see if I can help narrow down what is happening.

Also check the server logs to see if anything is being logged there as well.

Ok... it does appear that I introduced a bug in my ALPHA-14, build. I'm not sure if I'll have time this morning to upload a new build, but, I'll do it sunday afternoon for sure.

Probably as you were posting this, I uninstalled .14 and installed .13. And it loaded up just fine. .14 was the first time I had loaded this at all.

As far as functioning on a 1st Gen FireTV, it does work. The UI is not too bad with animations off. I have Gemstone loaded. With animations it's a bit sluggish. But NOT intolerable.

But there is a black border around the whole thing. It is not filling the screen. My guess is probably 20px to 40px. Hard to know on a 60" screen.

And I realize that video playback is very early yet, but just for reference, it played an H264 MKV file no problem, except the quality was not good. Very jerky and low-res looking.

But this is quite awesome. I am amazed at the progress you're making. To me, this is the Holy Grail. A solid AndroidTV device with a full Sage client is everything I need. Thanks for all of the hard work.

I had to backoff to SageTV7 due to regular expression failures in Favorites ... when I use your miniclient now it says it is a trial ... Do I have to use a placeshifter license?

Yes, this client (and all miniclients) require the placeshifter licensing on a v7 server, otherwise they will show that trial warning.

Amazon Fire TV

Ok, so my new Amazon Fire TV arrived yesterday. It appears to be a very good quality device and service, and I'm really happy with it so far.

I installed Alpha v14 of the miniclient and here are my observations.
- The app doesn't appear in the apps list, but I found it by going into settings->applications->manage applications.
- The app opens and apparently correctly 'discovers' my server, because the server's IP address is visible as an option below 'New Server'. Exiting the app and reentering again causes multiple copies of the same server address to show up.
- Attempting to connect to the server doesn't work, it times out after about a minute and goes back to menu.

FYI. I'll see if these are on the buglist and add them if they are not.

Yeah, ALPHA-14 broke the connection I'll be uploading a new build today (later).
