I have ruined myself for buying new hard drives. Not too far back I picked up on a deal at Circuit City from SlickDeals.net that pointed out that they were ringing up (but not mark so in the stores) 160GB drives for $110 at a time when they were offering $40 + $50 mail in rebates. So I ended up getting the drive for $20 plus tax. Which is great, don't get me wrong, but I'm like the least cheap person in the world however now now matter how good the deal is on a hard drive I always think its way to expensive. *grin* I guess there are worse problems to have. Maybe the 250GB drives will start coming down in price more once the 400GB drives are widely available.

Hmm -- I wonder if I can use CC's price guarantee, since I'm sure I bought my PVR 250 there less than a month ago...

Aw, crap -- never mind. I didn't read close enough to realize that the deal was from CompUSA. Still, shouldn't the price guarantee still cover it?

Are you sure it was CompUSA? I was checking their Sunday circular for something else, but it doesn't list those Hauppauge products. If it was CompUSA, perhaps it was for your local store only -- a grand opening type thing? (There was one near here recently & the ad was for that store only.) The national circular on their site doesn't list it either.

I went to the website and look through it as well
it is suppose to be on page 7
I do not know why they would change one page
If you really are worried about I would call the stores to make sure they are putting them on sale

It is compUSA though and I really do not believe that it is not a local thing

4 days worth of effort wasted as I wasn't able to make it happen from CA. Here's the post-mortem and full detailed info. Was hoping to post a 'how-to' success guide, but such is life.

Not just a Dallas thing, but just a Texas thing. Called Hauppauge to find out where the PVR-250 was rebated in CompUSA. Here's the list of store #s (which you can cross reference on their home page): 121 127 101 717 731 747 725 729 139 730 361 327 678 447 601 373 107. All of those stores are in Texas. -sigh-

1) Called my local CA CompUSA to find out if they would honor an out-of state ad. No luck. They did say they found a national $30 rebate which could be applied to their $120 price from the MFG. Minor good news.

2) Called corporate CompUSA to find out if they would honor that price as either a web sale and/or a TX sale. Neither, although they said I could call one of the TX stores and they would sell it to me over the phone and could ship it to me.

3) Called a TX store in Abeline (121, I think) and talked to a really nice store manager. Turns out that it is an 'in-store' ad, a BIG loss leader, and can't be sold via shipping only locally. Very nice guy, but no-go.

Thought I could find a way to swing this and get 2 of them, but no luck. Hope this info is useful to anyone in the TX area at least.

The good news for those in the market: my friend in the Hauppauge rebate dept said that the cards will be on sale in Fry's from Jul 9-15. Hopefully CA's Fry's included in that list. Probably only the $30 off though of Fry's $150 price.

This is now a quest. A quest for fun! GL to all you happy shoppers.
