Silicondust 20150604 - lost tuners

Since upgrading my HDHR Prime, SageDCT can no longer find the tuners. I've rescanned and it still can't find any tuners. HDHR apps say tuners are there and I can view them.

Also tried removing static assignments with SageDCT and rescanned. No luck.

This is the first time I've upgraded HDHR HW and SW and had a problem. Other upgrades went fine.

Anyone with an idea would be great.

Thanks.
---Bill

SAGECDCT does not work with the latest firmware ... see this post. You have 2 choices wait till SAGEDCT is fixed or use the primeencoder.

If you are using a Prime you should really upgrade to HDHomeRun Prime Network Encoder ... as there will be multiple firmware changes leading up to the release of their DVR. The HDHomeRun Prime Network Encoder uses the HDHomerun software to change the channels.... so it should work with future firmware upgrades.

I've read the thread and I'm somewhat confused.

1) I must use PrimeNetEncoder instead of SageDCT, correct?
2) Where do I get the latest version of this? Is 1.0 Beta the latest?
3) I need to upgrade to a new version of FFMPEG. Where do I get this and where do I install it?

Thanks.....kind of trying to do this with a gun to my head..

This is the latest Version 1.0.1 (Beta) http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62055 also look at the thread after the first thread I made some changes to the properties I attached it.

ffmpeg you can get here.

http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/

I will be around to help you ... if you need assistance.

PS You can just disable the SageDCT service.

Thanks for "hanging in there" with me.....

I'm up to the step where I did hdhomerun_config.exe discover. It only returned one ID, but I have a prime with 3 tuners in it.

Did you fix the ports? for tuners 1 and 2

Code:
#
#Example Setings file for PrimeNetEncoder
#
tuners.count=3
tuner0.name=HDHomeRun Prime Tuner 0
tuner0.port=7000
tuner0.enabled=True
tuner0.id=FFFFFFFF
tuner0.number=0
tuner0.transcoder.port=5000
tuner0.transcode.enabled=False
tuner0.transcode.deinterlace=True
tuner0.transcode.bitrate=4000
# Example for h.264 safe scaling to 720p: trunc(oh*a/2)*2:720
# A setting of blank will do no scaling
tuner0.transcode.scaling=
tuner0.transcode.preset=ultrafast
# Codec is an experimental setting for testing hardware encoding
# There are development builds of ffmpeg that incude those features
tuner0.transcode.codec=libx264
tuner1.name=HDHomeRun Prime Tuner 1
tuner1.port=7001
tuner1.id=FFFFFFFF
tuner1.number=1
tuner1.enabled=True
tuner1.transcoder.port=5010
tuner1.transcode.enabled=False
tuner1.transcode.deinterlace=True
tuner1.transcode.bitrate=4000
tuner1.transcode.scaling=
tuner1.transcode.preset=ultrafast
tuner1.transcode.codec=libx264
tuner2.enabled=True
tuner2.id=FFFFFFFF
tuner2.number=2
tuner2.name=HDHomeRun Prime Tuner 2
tuner2.port=7002
tuner2.transcoder.port=5020
tuner2.transcode.enabled=False
tuner2.transcode.deinterlace=True
tuner2.transcode.bitrate=4000
tuner2.transcode.scaling=
tuner2.transcode.preset=ultrafast
tuner2.transcode.codec=libx264
HDHomeRunConfig.path=C\:\\Program Files\\Silicondust\\HDHomeRun\\hdhomerun_config.exe
ffmpeg.path=ffmpeg.exe
# This setting is in miliseconds.
# Increasing setting may result in less halts in starting recording
ffmpeg.delay=500
discovery.port=8271

It is only one ID 3 tuners. Just change FFFFFFFF to the ID you will notice below the properties it has a tuner # ... those stay the same.

Making progress.....sorta...

The tuners showed up a available tuners when I started to config sage input sources. After adding one tuner and selecting all of the channels I wanted, it created 10 tuners (all identical) on the same port. They were all "tuner 0".

Ignore that it will work out... once you restart ... complete the others. Some people see that do not know why.

OK....Tuners are defined, restarted Sage...

When I pick a channel to watch/record, I get "NO SIGNAL". Same for all channels.

HDHR Setup shows the channel fine....

Did I need to change something in the HDHR config?

No.

Make sure you add an exception to ffmpeg.exe in firewall or turn it off till you get good signal. I have no idea what OS you are running... So cannot help you at the moment with the firewall. Also the ports have to be opened.

3. If you are running firewall software you will need to open the following ports
a. Machine running PrimeNetEncoder
i. Outbound
1. TCP/7000-7002
ii. Inbound
1. UDP/5000,5010,5020
b. SageTV Server
i. Inbound
1. TCP/7000-7002

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

I have no idea how to accomplish what you said to do.

Thanks again for hanging in there with me....The natives are getting restless.

Great !!!!! keep it off for now will not hurt anything. as long as you have a good router with a firewall software firewalls are overrated. I will post something later on this week on how to setup the firewall etc...

PS I am glad we did this it will make it easier for others.

Thanks for EVERYTHING.....

Jeez I wish Silicondust would have put at least a mention in their release notes.

You're right... I don't need Windows firewall on that machine. It's in a local network and I have a very secure hardware firewall between it and the world.

Can't believe I blew 5 hours on what I thought was a simple upgrade.

Sure glad the Sage Community is still alive!!!!

Again, thanks.
