I had to do a reboot. I noticed programs that should have been recorded in 5.1 were being recorded in stereo. "Dolby Digital/384Kbps@48kHz Stereo" mind you so that's some fancy stereo, but not what I wanted.

Just restarting the service had no effect. Rebooting in the middle of a recording picked it right up with the correct 5.1 audio in the second segment .ts file.

I haven't had any "no audio" files since applying those updated drivers you posted. And the stereo mistake recordings are at least viewable. I'm just glad I haven't had any of the stop motion unwatchable recordings.

Are you using any custom bitrate or audio settings? Maybe try default SageTV setting?

All my shows are recorded in AAC@48kHz Stereo because every time I try to use 5.1 then the extender would shutter on live shows sometimes (That on my older version colossus card).

Since I am Deaf and sound quality have no benefits for me, I just left it at Stereo and use the White/Red RCA for sound from my DirectTV boxes. I could never get smooth playback using HDMI no matter how hard I tried. It would just shutter after few channel changes on live TV.

I suspect it have to do something with sounds bitrate or compression.

Hi bill thanks for loan me your HD300

I think you failed under what I'm saying

No custom bit rate it all bone stock SageTV stuff

Yup I have felling that this may have been causing that by it not seeing audio at time as I see the same thing here to with Colossus 2 from time to time with LiveTV mode so I think this is being cause by server side of things as I never saw this happing on SageTV Client when test it real hard.
As I don't recall if I ever check that when redbaron73 loan me his HD200 2 year ago as I had latest model 1512 HD-PVR 2 with HDMI, Digital Audio input when I had DirectTV.

I don't think this is the case here bill
HD300 dose work with all Pre-Schedule Recording I had no audio problem there unlike LiveTV.

If I start a LiveTV on SageTV Client and View the Recording Detail which depend on the channel that I'm on it like this
Format : MPEG2-TS[H.264 16:9 720p@60fps, Dolby Digital/384Kbps@48kHz 5.1]
or
Format : MPEG2-TS[H.264 16:9 720p@60fps, Dolby Digital/256Kbps@48kHz Stereo]
or
Format : MPEG2-TS[H.264 16:9 720p@60fps, AAC@48kHz Stereo]

Now if I start a LiveTV on SageTV HD300 and View the Recording Detail under no matter what channel I on it always
Format : MPEG2-TS[H.264 16:9 720p@60fps]
Some time when I change channel I would get audio maybe only 5% of the time.

But as I said the Audio is in the Recording File and depend on channel that on it can be AAC or Dolby Digital Stereo or Dolby Digital 5.1

Here kick if I start a LiveTV on the SageTV Client and then watch on HD 300 I have Audio but then would goof up soon as I change the channel.

We don't watch live TV at all -- sounds like this might be why we aren't experiencing unwatchable recordings?

But didn't you say you tested it?.
There not unwatchable recordings as the SageTV Client can play them back with audio which very odd as soon as the recording is done even with it only showing Format: MPEG2-TS[H.264 16:9 720p@60fps] but need say HD300 will not play audio even with recording done recording .

I'm convinced that all of these sound issues with the Colossus, Colossus 2, and HDPVR 2 are Sage related, not Hauppauge related. The reason is that everyone over at Nextpvr seems to have all of these models working reliably. I think we are just going to have to wait until Sage goes open source, then hope someone can tinker with the code to get them working.

That said, I wonder if whomever programs the NextPVR software has any pointers about this issue. Maybe they had to do something special to get them working with their code.

Yes agree most problem are Sage related but 1st Colossus isn't all that hot it not that it a bad card it is good card it just depend what your doing with it even on NextPVR it has the same problem as SageTV it best do every day reboot.

After some glitchy recordings I've gone back to daily reboots.

The problematic recordings are different from those I would get from the Colossus v1. Colossus 2 glitchy recordings sometimes go stop-motiony, but often recover to smooth playback after a few minutes of this. And I had two recordings where it would just stop playback at a consistent point in the recording, as if I had pressed the stop button. Could not do anything to play past that one spot within SageTV (using extenders)

On the plus side, all of these recordings play fine in VLC and on my Dune media player, so they are inconveniences but not total losses. Also with Colossus v1 usually once it made one bad recording more would follow until I restarted the SageTV service. With Colossus 2, recordings made after a glitchy recording are usually just fine.

You might want to mention to Hauppauage that SageTV is going open source soon that the Colossus and other TV cards sales may go up again.

It may encourage them to fix those bugs sooner

I can only assume that Hauppauge marketed to the gaming crowd, who were willing to accidentally purchased the wrong product to record their gaming sessions [Hauppauge] - which is why we never realized a proper video recording solution from this company.

To answer your question, no, I don't believe they ever had any interest in this community.

Well, since both the xbone and ps4 candy record gameplay and post to web, I would think their market is getting very limited. I'm a little worried they will go out of business in the next year or so. Hopefully I'm wrong.

That hard to say what well happing in next 5 years but do keep in mind that they also carter to Europe and Asia market which are much more open then BS we have to put up with here, Why do thing they get Mobile iOS or Android get TV tuner device and where do we get jack even the folks at Elgato, AVerMedia are have been shifted there plans to other product market.
So for now the only Mobile TV tuner device are a Windows x86 Laptop or Tablet but hope lee that well all change when roll out ATSC 3.0 with H.265 codec.
