This looks really odd... The only thing I can think is that for some reason HDHomeRun_config was either no longer present (Software uninstalled), or possibly it was not able to communicate with the HDHomeRun. Do either of these sound like possibilites? Were you tweaking some firewall settings? Upgrading or moving HDHomeRun software drivers?

- Thanks. Yes, it has been at least two years since I set up SageDCT and at the time I did have to run WMC to get the cablecard to be recognized (Digital Cable Adviser... or something like that). I did run all this time with no real issues, other than replacing the hard drive recently.

- Yep, when I couldn't get any tools to fix the drive I wiped it and ran on an extended surface level test. No drive issues reports. Still don't trust it though and drives are cheap enough this one will not go back in any of my systems again. First thought was drive failure from the start. Once the drive seemed to check out OK, and further questioning on what exactly happened when it died I started to suspect the software did something "unexpected"

Just as a point of reference I run (and fully configured) SageDCT/HDHR on Windows 2003 (definitely doesn't have WMC and/or Digital Cable Adviser)

Hi Josh,

No, I had finished all my firewall tweaks and everything was finally working. I rebooted the system and it was just just doing its thing, recording scheduled shows while we were watching recorded ones. I wasn't messing with anything on the network at all.

I've been using v1.2.2 for a few days but may have to roll back to a previous version soon. When it works, which is most of the time, it's great. But it's not reliable yet. Two observations:

1. Recording has audio but no video. This doesn't produce any errors in the log.
2. 'No Signal'. This produces the following in the tuner-specific log:

In this instance it seems to be affecting Tuner 1 in particular. Meaning if I STOP recording on 1 and begin a manual record of another channel on 1, and then watch 'live' on the original channel, Tuner 2 picks it up and records okay. Everything looks normal running PrimeNetEncoder status.

As a follow up to my last post, I did the most rudimentary of testing:

• Shut down Sage service
• Kill PrimeNetEncoder
• Restart PrimeNetEncoder
• Start Sage service

And, at least for now, all tuners are recording okay again.

Will this solution work with the newer non prime HDHR's that support MP4 trans coding? I would love to retire my HDHR MP2 devices to get some of that space back on my Sagetv machine. 6GB an hour is just getting out of hand. Thanks, Bill

Seem to be having the same problem I have to look a little closer but appears I too might have to rollback. It appears it is not releasing the tuners the Lights stay on even after I shutdown SageTV Service.

One Recording had over 100 halts .... had to backup to previous PrimeNetEncoder no problems now.

When all the halts were happening I got an out of memory error also in SageTV. With the previous release once it finished recording it releases the tuners to Idle ... Maybe the tuners should be unlocked and released to Idle.

I have a fix in testing for this issue. If there was an issue with a recording, PrimeNetEncoder was not cleaning up properly. It was keeping an active connection to the HDHomeRun. I think I fixed that issue.

I also added a new feature. There seems to be an occasion when the HDHomeRun sits idle for a long time it does not respond to the commands sent to it. I created a watcher thread that monitors the transfers, and if it sees that no data is transferring than it reissues the commands to the primes.

I hope to have this version out this coming week.

In this instance it seems to be affecting Tuner 1 in particular. Meaning if I STOP recording on 1 and begin a manual record of another channel on 1, and then watch 'live' on the original channel, Tuner 2 picks it up and records okay. Everything looks normal running PrimeNetEncoder status.

Please let me know if you'd like me to try anything before rolling back. I'm hoping to find a little bit of time to troubleshoot later today.

For issue #1 I would recommend increasing the probesize or analyzedurration in ffmpeg. This might be an issue of ffmpeg not properly recognizing the stream.

Version 1.2.4 has been released. I am pretty confident this should fix the issues you were reporting. Please let me know if you see any issues. I am going to stop adding any new features and focus only on stability and bug fixes. Once you guys report it is stable I will release it as stable version 2.0.

You need to restart SageTV. It thinks you are still using the old version of PrimeNetEncoder which is using Network Encoder Protocol Version 2. The new version of PrimeNetEncoder is using Version 3. Sage does not ask the tuner again what its version is.

I will add it to my list to make sure the command is properly formated, and if not throw a protocol mismatch error so the end users can possibly figure out what is going on.
