Ways to add extra meta data that will appear in recording details?

My problem is I have an imported video that I have converted to a recording.

I would really like to get that channel name into the "View recording detail screen".

Ideally to appear where it normally would for a real TV recording.

So far I have tried to:

1) Find the equivalent EPG airing and assign the media file to that - too many minor differerences in show title / episode title for a reliable match.
2) Convert the channel I have into a stationId and add an airing - but that seems to extend the apparent duration when you play back as if the program e.g. a 5 min programme that aired two hours ago will show a playback progress bar thats 2 hours and 5 mins with the 2 hours shown in red. I think its messing with the EPG data
2) AiringAPI.SetManualRecordingProperty - Does nothing
3) MediaFileAPI.SetMediaFileMetadata - Does nothing
4) User categories - Does add a new line - so a possible solution but what other impacts will it have

Anybody got ideas how I can do that?

In the end I realized that channels can exist regardless of whether they are part of a line up and therefore existing EPG data. They can even have same callsign and description as existing channels provided the stationId is unique.

I created some extra channels and linked my airing to those via the new stationId I created for that channel.

Hey presto the correct channel string appears in the recording detail
