Amazon Fire TV Stick, $19 if you hurry

In the battle for streaming, Amazon introduces the Fire TV Stick. Basically the Fire TV in a Chromecast-like form (but with a remote).

$19 for Amazon Prime members until Oct. 29th.

At $20 I also just picked one up.
With Plex support I can even watch Sagetv shows plus Netflix and Amazon. pretty much all I need.

The TV in the bathroom has a HD300 but the built in Netflix and Amazon apps on the TV are slow... so this will probably get put in there so I can lounge in the Tub and watch online shows with the Remote. The remote is an issue with the Chromecast, not going to hold my tablet in the Tub.

At $20 I really considering a second one.

Ok, I give up - you got me beat.

I have 8 TVs in the house, and 9 in the summer when I have one in my pool cabana so that I can watch from the swimming pool. They all have Sage HD200 or HD300 extenders. But I don't have any TVs in the bathroom

For the remote option you could try sealing in a ziplock bag. I have also heard of people taking it to the local butcher shop and having them vacuum seal it in a bag. There are some waterproof universal RCs but I don't know that they are learning - I think they are the kind where you type in 0005 for a Sony TV which likely won't work for more exotic devices.

I actually mounted the TV at first just so i could watch the news in the morning.
But...I have a large jacuzzi Tub and find myself in there watching TV a lot more than I ever thought I would.

I work from home now and generally work out a lunch and rather than stink the rest of the day I now even take conference calls from the Tub with the laptop in a chair next to it. (Sad I know)

I have the Chromecast setup in the HDMI port of a Colossus (with splitter) and can pipe online content in thru SageTV and if I really wanted I could use my phone or tablet but for the wet thing.
Solution? A buddy of mine has a wet bag for his phone with a transparent screen that you can touch thru. Not perfect but it works for light use while fishing. Was considering that anyway but the remote from the Fire will be fine. Still getting the Wet bag for fishing.

I have an outdoor jacuzzi and I have often wanted to watch TV from there. It is under a deck so a TV would be somewhat sheltered from the direct rain and snow but it would get indirect exposure if it really blows in. But maybe I should just get a 24" cheapo TV for around $150 - maybe you have to replace it every year or two but at that price they are almost disposable. It is just outside my main Home Theater so it shouldn't be hard to run an HDMI cable out to it. The problem will be hearing it over the roar of the jets.

Just posted this is another thread about different ideas for sage installations. I use a Surface Pro 3 in my hot tub. Needed to rearrange wireless to put 5ghz in the right place, but it works great. I seem to always want to watch something live out there like ballgames, so it had to be sage. It is hard to hear, so I might look into a new set of bluetooth water resistant sports headphones. I will justify the purchase by telling myself I will be able to exercise with them too.

That's a great idea - I do have a Dell Venue Pro 8" that I bought as a Sage client but I haven't used it too much. Or if it is anything other than sports I could just use an iPad with AirVideo or Plex.

These First World problems are terrible, aren't they. Why does it have to be so hard to watch streaming video in my hot tub!!!

I still haven't received MY FireTV Stick yet (see above), but my tech geek co-worker ordered a pair when the deal was first announced, so he let me take one of his. I've only used it for a couple of hours, but it seems pretty good, and a real game-changer in terms of performance/price ratio. I loaded XBMC onto it and it does a better job than several hardware devices that cost four or five times as much. It will be interesting to see what all this thing can do over the next few months ...

I see it. Thanks for the heads up. It's strange that you can have it today for 25 bux, or wait until after the first of the year on Amazon.
