Specific cover art "disappearing"
This could be an issue with Gemstone, Phoenix or BMT. I'll start here, though.
I've had this issue for a while now where the exact same movies will have their cover art spontaneously stop showing in the flows. I go into the fanart manager and select the cover I want and it will show up again, but then, somewhere down the line, that same movie's cover art will cease to appear. I've tried clearing and rebuilding both the memory and file system caches, restarting everything, and moving the server fanart location to another drive. The one thing all these movies have in common is that I chose a default cover art image other than the default which showed up from the automatic scan BMT did. Any idea how to troubleshoot this?

No ideas how to troubleshoot but I have seen the same or similar behavior. Plus sometimes I can't get covert art to show up until I do a cache delete and rescan and that sometimes causes others to disappear and have to be manually fiddled with.

Thanks for confirming that it's happening to at least one other person. That makes me feel a little bit better about my setup, at least. I put a similar thread in the BMT forum a few minutes ago.

I am now seeing the same/similar issue and I don't think I have made an update to correspond with the issue starting. I believe this is related to previous random issues that have been reported but so far I have not been able to reproduce.
I still actively use sage daily so when I have time I will dig into this and see if it's gemstone or the Phoenix calls....either way I want to fix it but time will tell when that can happen...perhaps this fall/winter! k |

Glad to hear that you're willing to look into it (and that you're still using Sage).

I was able to fix all of my problems - maybe others have tried this already, but I hadn't.
While in a view, like a movie view, right-click on your mouse. The select Fanart Manager. Then make a different movie the default and close. I had never used this Fanart manager before - I had always used the one that was part of CMT that came up when you selected on the file.

Ok, I guess I spoke too soon. Are you sure you meant CMT and not BMT? When using CMT to change Fanart it didn't seem to work properly. But using the Fanart manager built into the Gemstone UI is working much better - but I didn't know this existed until yesterday.

You're correct. I was talking about the webUI for BMT (edited prev. reply) and the Gemstone fanart manager. I don't think I use CMT for anything manual.

Just wanted to give this thread a little bump to bring it back into the spotlight, so it's not forgotten about.

I have been having fanart issues for a while too; probably a year or more. It's hard to narrow down the repro details, but lately it seems to be failing for only my DVD rips. Anything recorded by Sage seems to display fanart properly. If I rip one of my DVDs and let the BMT webUI scrape the fanart then it will fail to display in Gemstone. The sage Fanart Manager shows all of the fanart images properly, but the actual movie entry in the view doesn't display the selected fanart or background image.

That's actually quite different from the issue I was posting about. In my case, everything gets fanart through BMT without issue (recordings & rips) and it will display perfectly in Gemstone. However, if I change the default art that BMT chooses, Gemstone will (seemingly at random) decide not to display it any longer. I also can't change it back to the default choice and have things work again. However, if I never change it from the default, it will work forever.

Hi Skirge,
What do you mean by "if I change the default art that BMT chooses"? Are you changing it via the BMT WebUI? I ask, because I use BMT WebUI as well. I don't always manually change the fanart via the BMT WebUI, but does the mere act of BMT's fanart scraping actually translate to a "default art change"? Thanks |

I've done it both via the BMT WebUI and via Gemstone's fanart manager. There isn't any fanart for something until BMT downloads some, so there couldn't be a default prior to the download.
