License entry

I have done a search but am still unclear. I have been using SageTV with WHS for years now but my WHS v1 server finally gave up the ghost. I went ahead and installed the latest desktop version of SageTV on my new Windows 2012 R2 Essentials server. I selected the 21-day trial, since I didn't have my license number handy at the time, and everything is working good. Now that I have my license number, for the life of me, I cannot find where to enter it. All I see on the server is the desktop interface (which I don't use to watch anything, so I just keep it minimized) but I cannot find where to enter my license to authorize my copy. Alright, what am I looking over? Also, I hope my WHS license will work. I only use Sage with 3 HD300's that I have.

A few months back I consolidated my servers, and i emailed support. They actually got back to me within a week or so and provided my keys.

as to the WHS license working on a different version, I cannot comment sorry.

I recently migrated from WHSv1 to Win7 Pro for my server. I emailed tech support on whether a different key was required. They did respond after a few days with a copy of my original order email/keys. However I had already entered in my WHS key as my 21 day trial was expiring. It worked. I also patched the SageTV.exe file with the unlocked one.

From the manual:

To enter the correct license key, open your SageTV folder, right-click on the
SageTVClient.exe file and create a new shortcut. Then right-click on the shortcut and go to Properties. Then enter in the Target line at the end after the quotes a space and then the word REGISTER. The correct entry will look like this:
"C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\SageTVClient.exe" REGISTER.
Then you will be prompted to enter the new license key. After your correct license key is accepted, you can delete the shortcut you just created.
