Problem with firewire tuning

Hi-
I have been using EXEMultiTunerPlugin.dll to change channels on a FIOS box (QIP-6200) for many years without problem. Recently, FIOS must have "updated" something because now the box frequently powers off. Because of this, we frequently record a hours worth of the screensaver, rather than the program that we intended to record...
I seem to recall that there is a way power on the box with each channel change, but cannot find the info on how to do it.
Is it possible to power the box on before changing channels? If so I would greatly appreciate being pointed in the right direction. It has been quite a long time since I messed around with Sage so the more info the better!
Thanks in advance!
Cheers, Mike

Some cable boxes have a setting where they can power on with any key push. Check to see if there is such an option for your box as this may solve the problem - my Sci Atl (aka Cisco) boxes have this option.

And then there is a Utility called SageChanger (however it may not support your FIOS STB):
Quote:
SageChanger is a STB firewire channel changer for Windows. It's a replacement of timmmore channel.exe.
If you ever missed a recording because your STB was OFF, you need this new changer because it will ensure
that your STB is ON before issuing channel change. It also support querying power status.
It was written by mikep - if he is still around maybe you could get him to add support for your box, assuming that is possible.

Firewire tunning ...

... I running SageChanger with the FIOS QIP7100's and previously with the QIP6200 when I had Comcast as my ISP. Also did get an "update" a month-or-so-ago which enabled a Sleep Timer that put the box in StandBy/ScreenSaver mode. You can turn-it off from the set Top Box menu.

SageChanger may help you with the QIP6200 since it can be configured to Turn On the STB before changing channels (The QIP7100 always reports that it's already on so it seems to ignores that command - so we leave the box on).

Of course it's 32bit and config is not user friendly (as with you, when they don't need much attention configuration is a new experience each time).

HTH,
Andre
