Cable Company Turned on the CCI

Ugh!!!
After 5 or 6 years, Mediacom has just started CCI flagging non-extended basic channels.

No more watching HBO or even the sports tiers.

Now I have to decide whether to drop those channels since I can't watch them, or switch to WMC so that I can.

What a bad weekend.

What are you using as a capture Device?

I have an hdhr prime. I have a colossus in a drawer too, that I was using before cable cards came out. I could go back to that but i really do not want to.

I am leaning towards dropping the packages I can't use any more and waiting for premium series to hit DVD rental to watch.

At least that would mean giving mediacom less per moth for this decision rather than more (if I had to start renting a new box again)

Would it be possible to assign two tuners to sage and the third to WMC and run the two together?

OK. Cool. That might be a good solution. I can leave SageTV to record all the copy freely stuff and leave one tuner assigned to WMC for the premium channels.

I think it is easy for me to tell SageDCT and Sage to use only 2 of the three tuners, but I am not so sure how easy it will be to tell WMC that it can only use one of the three tuners in the HDHR Prime. I think it automatically detected all three when I tried it.

It turns out playready is broken in my Windows 8 install. (not looking for helpo on this-already tried fixing all weekend) I tried loading windows 8 on a new hard drive and everything worked fine in WMC - so I am sure I could get it working. I hate to have to reinstall Windows to get it working. ( I really hate this DRM BS.) If I turn my stereo on after my TV, then I can't play anything in WMC. Ugh....

My final decision, I think is to reinstall Windows 7 with Media Center, reinstall SageTV and try getting everything set back up. I installed Windows 8 about 6 months ago and that has turned out to be a dumb idea.

That's what happened to me. I HAD to switch or do things differently to stick with Sage, I chose 7MC. Took a little while but I love it now.

during the setup keep track of the tuner id's and only allow the ones you want, even though it will find them all.

What percentage of your recording is historically on the channels that are on the now flagged channels? It might be worth it to simply add the colossus and an stb to the mix, make a new lineup with the flagged channels and set the colossus' merit lower. This will get rid of some of the benefits of the direct cablecard tuner, but it will still be more seamless than having to pick and choose what interface to use depending on the show you want to watch.
