Easiest way to cleanup old favorites and files?

Doing a general overhaul, and want to just tidy things up. There doesn;t seem to be a good way to delete favorites aside from using the remote to pick them off one by one, or using the web interface and clicking all the way into the favorites and deleting it there. Both very time consuming, any better way? Isn't there a list where I can check multiple at once and delete?

I simply go into Windows Explorer, sort by file name, and ctrl or shift-click away those files (including related extensions).

Been doing that for years on 20 TB server. Don't even stop the Sagetv server.

My son records every sports event on TV, watches a fraction of it, and never deletes it.

Not sure if there is a downside to this approach.....

I think he meant favorites in the recording schedule ... not the recordings.

Why not use the Favorites Manager screen (the one that lists every favorite, so you can adjust their recording priority, or edit each favorite's settings, or delete each favorite)?

I have not verified this, but I think it should be possible to export the favorites from the Favorite Manager (web server) , then edit that XML file to remove unwanted entries, and import it using webserver's "import XML file" menu option. There is a check box there that says "Overwrite Existing Favorites". I assume the contents of xml file will be appended otherwise.

This works, but I was hoping for a quicker multi-checkbox method like the web server approach does for files. Kids record everything as favorites. Don't really need the watched history. No big deal, I will just do it on the laptop while watching playoffs tonight.
