It's a GoogleTV box (ie, Runs a specific version of Android and connects to the GoogleTV marketplace where you can get other apps).
Asus Promo Page http://promos.asus.com/US/asuscube/ Review http://mashable.com/2013/06/24/asus-cube-review/ Think of it as being similar to Roku in that you can add 3rd party apps, such as netflix, plex, xbmc, etc. The only interesting/original thing about googletv is that because it uses an hdmi passthrough, the googletv interface gets overlaid on top of your current video signal. So, when you are watching a tv show, and you hit the google tv menu button, you still see your video, but the google tv menu appears at the bottom. To be honest, I found this annoying when I was running sagetv as a passthrough, so i no longer use the passthrough feature.
