IR Extender Over HDMI

Does anybody use and recommend IR Extender Over HDMI .... I saw this on Monoprice. I am going to run a Redmere HDMI 60 ft cable and was wondering if anybody has any success with an Ir extender.

PS those HDMI with redmere are really great no quality loss.

I recently ordered these, along with the redmere. I use the redmere cables and they are great. I havn't hooked up the IR pieces as yet. I thought I would need to but, as it turns out the network control works real well for me.

I can hook it up and give it a test drive for you. MY longest run is ~60' with a three splits or through wall via's as it were.

Thanks I went ahead and ordered them. Also I really like the thin Redmere 6 foot cables. Saves stress on the HDMI ports.

Yeah, I have a 30' one. I tried a cheap cable and then went with the Redmere. Can't chince on HDMI cables for some reason.

So I guess you can post back and let me know how that works out with the IR. I read that with long runs they can act up. I was also wondering if they effect the EDID readings, unless your not using it with a PC.

I had an IR issue as I wanted to send an IR signal from my Control4 Home Automation controller in my basement to the blinds in the Master Bedroom on the second floor. What we did was to use the unused pair on my home phone wiring - just splice a phone cable at the receiving end onto an IR blaster - I have tons of these blasters around from old TiVos, MCE remotes, etc.

Yeah, when you have the phone/network available to do so. One of my TV locations is outside where I only have wireless phone/network available.
