So last night's recording of Key & Peele on the HD-PVR 2 again produced questionable audio. Trying to open the file in MPC Home Cinema, the splitter couldn't find filters for the pins.
Here's the dump from the LAV splitter. Maybe this means something to someone: Code:

I didn't think that the HDPVR2 did multi-channel AAC conversion but if it did, I'd think nChannels would be like ac3 = 6 and not 51

I sent Hauppauge the same recording info and mentioned Sage again. Mistake.
Of course they say they can't control SageTV and an update would be needed for Sage's software. What update they don't say. As far as I know, all Sage does is tell the encoder to start, the HD-PVR 2 does the rest. The same as the original HD-PVR. I'm afraid they won't pursue my ticket any longer now. |

Honestly, I wonder how much they even test the HD-PVR 2's against broadcast media these days; seems like it's mostly aimed at gamers.
Maybe I'll look into a way to time script Capture or Showbiz in order to make Hauppauge look into this. Obviously there's some shows I've found that can reproduce the problem (like K&P and The Returned). I think the issue is totally due to top-of-the-hour audio track changeover when the HD-PVR 2 is starting up.

Can anyone confirm or deny that adding an optical cable for audio either works or doesn't work over just the RCA connections? Edit: I can confirm that replacing the RCA connection w/an Optical cable has no affect on the outcome. Sage still won't play the audio track. Last edited by gary201; 12-30-2013 at 11:10 AM. |

It looks like the HD PVR 2 driver version is up to 1.5.32118 from April 2014. Has anyone tried this version out with regard to the sound issues?

Bummer. I should probably just sell mine, since it looks like they won't ever address this issue.

The problem is in SageTV which is something we can't fix.
