DVD playback in SageTV
For some reason, DVD playback in Sage just isn't that great.. It seems to skip a little every once in a while... The other night I was watching a Zoolander DVD and in one particular scene it kept skipping the same video no matter how many times I rewound it to attempt to watch that scene...
Anyone have any tips on how to improve DVD playback? Thanks, Paul |

use overlay rendering and use the same audio and video decoder for decoding and disable 3d acceleration
furthermore make sure the Disc are not scratched test in a software DVD program to see if Zoolander gives the same issue |

Well, if it's in the exact same place every time, i doubt it's a software/playback problem, those tend to be somewhat random. In addition to what kny recommended, you may want to try ripping it to you HDD and see if that makes a difference.

I can confirm there are problems with the Sage DVD Playback, I experience skipping, and momentary pauses...though not in the same spot. (its actually worse when ripped to the HD). I dont know any reason for this since I use the same decoders (PowerDVD 5) but PowerDVD has much smoother playback, both players using DXVA.

try putting DXVA on default
see if it improves also I use powerDVD 5 for DVD since it is the only "stable" decoder I have that will do 5.1 analogue sound and it is important to use the same video and audio decoder when using powerDVD decoders for stability reasons so set both to cyberlink decoder also try deinterlace mode on default render on overlay and 3d accleration disabled also try using the cyberlink audio render for audio rendering that should help or default wave out audio rendering in the case that you are using spdif output |
