Need Help With Sage, tv-out , won't display on pc!!

Ok,

Just received my sage tv today,
decided to try to install it.

Ive got it up and running finally, but with the tv out, I can see the picture, but then not on the pc monitor.

It shows the icons on both tv&monitor, but anything with the picture only shows up on the tv,.... the guide and everthing else works & shows up on both pc & tv, but the picture only on the tv.

Can someone please help me!

Im using my nvideo gForce4 mx 420 w/ video out.

Do you think that it has to do with sage, or with my video card setting.

Anyone please help me!!

Thanks, cc

try enabling 3d acceleration

furthermore look at using VMR9 if it is a SDTV the picture quality normally looks better than overlay or default video rendering

if it is a HDTV overlay would probably be best

it sounds like you set up the TV as primary monitor,is there a reason you want a monitor connected to the computer?

For the NVidia card, go to your monitor properties, settings, advanced, GeForce tab, and I believe you want clone as your mode if you want the same image on both your monitor & TV. but, then you are stuck with the max res your TV can use.

If you use DualView mode instead, simply drag the SageTV window over to the TV & don't bother using it on the monitor. Do you really need it on both?

no, actually I don't need the exact same on both, but putting them on dual view, does that basically act like having one window stretched over both screens??

Also, any tips on configuring the sreamzap remote buttons, also, how do you acces the screen when you right click on sage, using the remote??

Please more help welcomed.

Thanks, cc

well he said everything is appearing on both the TV and the monitor but the video itself

so it sounds like he is using clone
I would
unless you want to watch TV and surf the internet at the same time?????

you will not be able to do much more than that
using the desktop monitor as secondary

forget ever playing a video game with the monitor as secondary

3D acceleration is in the properties of Sage

go to setup

then detailed setup

then advanced and just click on it where it says disabled and it will enable

VMR9 and overlay are video rendering

VMR9 you can set
in the detailed setup as well go to video
then video rendering choose VMR9 (Direct X Video Mixing Rendering 9)
and you must have 3d acceleration enabled to do VMR9

overlay is also a video render and can be setup in the video section instead of VMR9

and you can run overlay with or without 3 d acceleration

if you choose VMR9 as render you get nice trnasparent blue menus and displays as well

the video may look choppy on the monitor if you do not have the greatest video card when doing VMR9 rendering but should look fine on the TV

also you can post your system specs

see how I do below

no dual view does not because sage does not support that
one monitor or the other with the video/ TV

(two posts in a row for yah)

but never used that remote

may be easier to use the search option

ccerj8: dual view simply lets you extend the Windows desktop onto both monitors as if you had a larger monitor. You can simply drag any window from one screen to the other. See also: http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...&threadid=5539

That depends on how you want it to work. Do you want the sagetV window on both your monitor & the TV, or do you want it just on the TV?

Did you read that other thread I linked to, above?

You didn't break anything... you can always change the settings back... so you can start breathing again. Is your monitor set as the primary display? Is SageTV set to use overlay or default Video renderer, instead of VMR9?

ok, now I got my video display setting back to how they were, but I still haven't gained much ground. I still get the black screen on one or the other. AHH NO!!!

Now my sage froze up, exited it, and now when I try to reopen it,, I get an error... There was a MPEG-2 Video Error in playback.
Details Failed connecting video stream to the overlay mixer. errCode=ox80040217.

Don't tell me I made a bad mistake.....ahh...now i can start to not breathe again!!

thanks so much guys.

I am going to go nuts!

kny3twalker: I'm curious... what is wrong with the monitor being the primary? The TV would simply be the 2nd 'monitor' & I play my client on that 2nd monitor all the time... though I am using a real monitor for both primary & secondary. Edit: Oh yeah... maybe I keep forgetting that even though overlay works on either monitor for me, maybe it doesn't for everyone else... since I was told quite a while back that I shouldn't be able to do overlay on my 2nd monitor. Who knows... maybe I'm _still_ not actually using overlay & don't realize it.

And, ccerj8: Just how do you _want_ it to work? On both? On one?

From the main support page's troubleshooting FAQs:

Quote:
I'm receiving the error message "There was a MPEG-2 video error in playback details: Failed connecting video stream to overlay mixer ErrCode = 0x80040217".
  • Go into your Detailed Setup and click on the Video tab. Change the Rendering Filter from Overlay to Default or vice versa. Restart SageTV on version 1.4 or "Reload Media Player" for version 2.
  • Go into your Detailed Setup and click on the Video tab. Change the Video Decoder you are using. Restart Sage.
  • Make sure you have a Video Decoder installed. Examples, PowerDVD, WinDVD, Elecard, InterVideo, etc.
