Made the mistake of cleaning up the Comcast channel changes by deleting the tuners from SageTV, doing a clean channel scan then trying to add the tuners back into SageTV. Now I'm getting an error that I can't connect to the SageTV Server when adding back the tuners.

Talking

I noticed I was missed most data from Lineup feed Digital Broadcast - 14301. For the entire weekend, until Monday morning.

I used Opus4 instructions worked perfectly. Everything is back now. The guide update is still running (5 minutes now).

I remember doing this a while back (like 2 years ago).. something to do with the encryption keys to connect to the guide servers? From what I remember anyway.

Kinda scary I thought this was the end of the EPG service! I guess once that happens it's time for an XMLTV import - but even that is not free any more!

Got an update with a manual recycle just before I went out to dinner a couple hours ago. Now have data through Tuesday, 1/29. So it looks like we're back in business for the moment.

And with that said: thank GOD for Slugger. I am watching his progress with bated breath.

Even when the servers were not having problems I only ever had data for 12-13 days at a time and 1 in the past.

yeah, 10-13 days is all i ever remember having. I think you may be confusing the setting for scheduling, which can be set for up to 14 days, but that doesn't mean 14 days of EPG data will be made available.

The EPG Apocalypse

Is it here? Is it all over?

I have a yellow alert message that says "Channel Lineup Lost from EPG Server" dated 1:54 PM on Wednesday, January 9th. "The lineup "Digital Broadcast - [zip] no longer exists on the EPG server. Updates to this lineup will no longer occur." I haven't been watching much TV, so I didn't see that I had a problem until it missed several recordings on Thursday and Friday. SNL was rescheduled for some local thing here and Sage did not detect it so I had to manually alter my recording time.

However, Sunday has data, although with several "No Data" holes in it. From then on, it looks completely normal until Wednesday, January 30th where the schedule goes completely dark at 6:00 PM. The Zap2it website looks like it's showing everything up until Friday. I'm used to the guide showing two weeks in advance. The system info screen says the EPG was just updated a few minutes ago, but there are still holes in the schedule for today and still nothing into the 31st. I've tried removing one of my tuners as a source and selecting a new channel list, but there's only digital broadcast and analog broadcast and analog doesn't have the channels I use.

I've searched for this problem and it's happened to a few people last year, but the solution seemed to be to just wait for the EPG server to fix itself, even if it means a few days. Is there anything I can do that's more proactive? Is there a way to manually update the guide listings or choose an alternative, more reliable source for TV listings so that I do not miss recordings in the future?

I've got no data at all.

Trying to set up my source again after losing the sound and I'm to the part where I select my cable or satellite provider (Direct TV) in my zip code, and there's nothing listed. No Direct TV no Comcast, no anything. Just a message that says "Please select your cable or satellite provider (press a key to jump to lineups starting with that letter):"

And there are no lineups

EPG Won't update

I've been having problems with the EPG not updating for months. I've had to clean the server_update_id and expanded_until lines from Sage.properties almost weekly. It usually takes a few days for it to work (deleting the lines every day, but it won't update for a few days).

I'm now down to 9 days of EPG. I've deleted the lines releatedly (with sage shut down) and it's still not loading. Any suggestions?

A reinstall is not an option because I'd really hate to have to redo the huge number of favorites and it was very painful to program the IR transmitter to auto-change my cable box; I'm not sure that I could redo it.

If it makes a difference: Comcast Frederick MD USA.

Thanks!

Yep that is what I was thinking, so all is ok? Relatively speaking...?

Yup, there is definitely a problem. I only have EPG data out to the 28th. When I attempt to add another source (I opted to try that before removing my current source due to complaints here) I get "can't connect to SageTV server" so... Apparently there is a problem with the sage service.

I don't mean to harp or anything but the system/automation engineer is coming out. This stuff worked for years without problems until it was bought out. Is there a reason why it can't or isn't set up with a min of 2 (virtual) servers that are load balanced and placed under configuration management like Puppet, Chef, CFEngine or even an image or something to allow for quick recoveries? 'Course I don't know what the problem actually is, but this is the second time in a month I've lost EPG updates as seems to be the case with quite a few others.

I'll toss this out here... I'd be happy to help if there's anything I can do to assure that the updates keep coming.

Can anyone actually add a brand new lineup after they remove the below lines from Sage.properties?

server_update_id
expanded_until

That corrective action seems like it only allows to update existing lineups. What's the fix for being able to add lineups without getting below message when adding a lineup:

Thanks, Gray Wolf and whoever moved my post to this area. Everything seems fixed now and I have data exactly two weeks into the future and no gaps. I'll be bookmarking that solution in case this happens again.

EDIT: Er, make that 11ish days into the future? Good enough, I guess.

I am without a daily update. Again. Forced update also giving no joy.

This is becoming... tiresome.
